The perfect season didn't end so perfectly. I wonder how much Dungy's sons death played a role in the performance of this team. Not to take anything away from LeBlow, Cowher and the Steelers.

Doesn't Manning to some extent call blocking coverages at the line? And if that is not the case then what the hell is all that pointing (and the pointing is not audibles that is the other retard movements he does)
Personally I think Manning's arrogance cost them the game. I'm okay with the shot to the endzone on 2nd and 2, but on 3rd and 2 give Edge the ball when you still have two timeouts. Its not as if Edge is some marginal running back and Pitt was on their heals anyway with their safeties back. That was the game there. Run the ball to just inside the 30 or so call timeout and you still have 3 shots and a timeout to burn. That is why he's Manning and Brady is Brady.

I'm sure there was some roster changes over that off season, but the majority or core if you will was intact from Dungy's squad. I agree Dungy is outcoached in the playoffs, but he doesn't have much to do with Manning and the offense.
Things certainly didn't end well for the Colts but lets be realistic about Dungy. I think the guy deserves to be cut a little bit of slack here. As a parent, if I went through what he went through the last month, there is no way I could be back performing my job the way I'm capable of. I can't help but think that his son is not on his mind 24/7 and I'm sure that is a huge distraction as he's trying to watch film, gameplan, etc.....The man is nothing but class and I'd love to have him coach my team anytime.
As for Peyton, he's a sore loser to say the least. I thought he was going to start ragging on Vanderjagt but instead it was his o-line. I guess he won't be showing up in any Visa commercials with his 5 layers of protection anytime soon. I don't remember the exact qoute but something like "I'm trying to be a good teammate here......my protection was fukking horrible all day long." Funny stuff!!

i heard that also & am surprised that manning said it.....thought he had more class than that....
as far as the loss is concerned, i blame the whole colt organization from the front office down for this loss....i'll admit i never thought dungy was that good of a coach...but maybe with what happened to his son he should be overlooked when spreading the blame....maybe his mind was elsewhere....if that was the case than the general manager & the assistants should have made sure that the colts were game ready.
the team took the last few games off & that resulted with them losing their game edge & concentration as witnessed by so many false starts....you usually see that type of penalty by visiting teams & not from home teams.....teams can't just turn it off & turn it on when they want...it takes time to build up to have this game edge....
yesterday i heard ditka talk about the same thing....when he coached that great bears team he said that he played his regulars right through the playoffs....
maybe coaches will learn from the past & in the future they will realize that it's not such a good idea to coast after clinching....

Its funny because after Eli went and pointed fingers a friend of mine sayed "you never see Peyton doing that kinda stuff" guess it runs in the family.
First of all Dungy didn't send the punt team out on the field like everyone keeps saying, only to have Manning wave them back. Dungy was telling Peyton in his headset that they were going for it, the Punt team was just running out there like they normally would, and THAT is why Peyton was waving them back. Its not as if he over ruled Tony.
Secondly, I put more blame at the feet of Manning than anyone else on the team, but are you saying they DIDNT have protection problems? It was ridiculous, and no QB could have performed on most of those plays, he didn't even have time for the first read. One thing I cannot and will not do anymore is stick up for him when people say he cant win the "big game". I contend he has won many "big games" in his career but you cant deny his playoff record. He even said so himself yesterday and his only answer was all I know is to keep trying. Its not from lack of effort or time spent we all know that. Its obviously not from lack of talent, gimme a break. There is some mental hurdle there and I would be surprised if it ever works itself out at this point. Sam Snead blew the U.S. Open 9 times. He always said if he had won that first one (where he made I think an 8 on the last hole to lose by 1 shot) he would have won 6 of them. Peyton's window has shrunk even more as they will have to get rid of Edge. I still don't think he threw his Linemen under the Bus by saying what he said.

surprised at his comments, didnt get to watch game. dont believe really in luck, but its starting to seem like dungy or peyton will never get there.

my thoughts exactly. you see this often. that much time off absolutely killed them. i don't think teams should ever let up when they clinch home playoff spots. it's just too hard to get rolling again - and they will likely be playing a hungry team that's playing near it's peak.

Peyton had happy feet from the beginning of the game. Watch the first 2 series, he is hoping all over the place, not just sitting in the pocket like he usually does. So to blame the protection is a joke because he was not his normal self from the beginning of the game...
Peyton Manning is a choke job... he could never beat florida or win the big game in college and it continues in the pro's
Speaking of choke jobs... nice kicker.. reminded me of the guy from minnesota a few years ago... makes every kick the entire season and misses the only one that counts. Didn't Vanderass also blow the winning kick against NE last year R(regular season game)
