They have 8 weeks to make boys into men--sound like someones mommy may have had some clout-unfortunately.
Its 13 weeks but same difference. There called rack drives. my Drill Instructor never made us do them but I heard of other Companys doing it. Crazy stuff but lets just say the Marine Corps will recruit anyone and some recruits need special attention.:hitwithro
Suffice to say Marines training undoubtedly tad bit tougher than code pink militia 
People can say what they want but I will go on record as saying there was no event in my life that had a more positive impact than military.
I went in a smart ass know it all degenerate punk--and came out with entirely diff attitude on life.

Dear sweet baby jeezus, cancel the war, cancel the Corps. We've got kids jumping head first into trash cans....
I can vividly recall Day 1 of boot camp... within the first hour the DI's had some poor guy in the middle of his squad bay in just his white skivvies bending over and picking at his @ss.
Day 2..... 90 guys in a 45 man shower area doing push ups... while showering.
Talk about team building....

Dog you didn't even know how long Marine Corps bootcamp is. What branch were you in the coast guard reserves? But I do agree with you Marine Corps bootcamp changed me from a smart @ss punk to a responsible adult. Don't regret any of it. I think bootcamp should be a requirement. Jumping off of bunks builds character.
