HELL
So my niece calls me for some math help, and I know the answer (B) but what is the equation/formula to show her work. Any help from you math gurus??

X + 3y =12

If y is made less, what must happen to x for the statement to remain true?

A) It remains the same

B) It becomes greater

C) It becomes less

D) Not enough information to tell

Thanks.

It's a graph function. y=mx+b is the point slope formula.

so set y at 1, 0, -1 and see what values you plot for x and see if it is increasing or decreasing.

If she is in basic Algebra showing your work would be putting in different numbers.

X + 3Y = 12

0 + 3(4) = 12

3 + 3(3) = 12

6 + 3(2) = 12

9 + 3(1) = 12

Therefore, each unit Y reduces X increases by 3.

You guys are the greatest, and I dont care what Nole says about you all. I know its common sense, but at that level its about showing work I presume.

Thank you.
