I just looked at a funny poll on ESPN.com. It asked, "If a girl invites a guy out to a baseball game, who pays for the ticket?"

To me, the obvious answer was, "The guy." Other options were, "The girl," and "Each pays for their own ticket."

I guess I should not have been surprised, seeing that most ESPN.com visitors are probably guys, but 64% said that the girl should pay and 12% said that each should pay for their own ticket. That leaves only 24%, or less than a quarter of people who responded, who gave the right answer. If there are any ladies reading this post, I think that's just another sign that chivalry is dead and women killed it.

I dont know how much you know about the way that woman think but I might could clue you in on a few things.

If the girl asks a guy out to a baseball game its automatically understood she pays the way. Its a date. A friendship. No strings attached just have a nice time at the game.

Now if the guy pays after getting asked out to a ballgame. Thats a whole differant nut to crack.

After the game, takes her to a French restaurant, buys her flowers, and maybe drinks later:

then that man is going deep as Anita would say.

And the obvious answer to you is the guy pays, I think we know what your thinking Nick.

Hope that helps

It has nothing to do with getting laid, Scotty. It is just doing things the right way. You are the man, so as a rule you would pay when you go out on a date. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, but as a rule, you should pay.

Well, I don't believe chivalry is dead. I am very much a 90's woman. Extremely independent. I am a single Mom, I own my own home (my second actually), I have a wonderful career and my pay isn't to shabby and I am 23 years old. But I believe that a woman should never pay. Well, never is a strong word if you are in a relationship that changes but if you are courting each other then a woman should never pay.

I think they are learning this equal stuff isn't all it's made out to be. I don't know what was wrong with the way it used to be. When they were more equal than us!

Jmom,

Thank you. I am glad to hear that there are at least *some* women out there who demand that a man do the right thing. I just see so many examples of women who let guys get away with so much crap in the name of equality that I really have to shake my head sometimes.

Jasonsmom, you must be a real pleasure to date. Another dollie with alligator arms when it comes time to pay. After some chump spends 7200 dollars on you over a couple months of dating, i'm sure he appreciates it when you refuse to toss in the tip for a $150 meal that you drug him to and that he's paying for.

i agree......my girl has had to have some training....at first she never would let me open her door, insisted on paying half all the time, etc. etc.......well took about 2 weeks and we took care of that problem...

truth is, is that women still like to be treated like princesses...even the modernized ones....sad thing is, is that most haven't been...so they resort to feminism as a defense mechanism...

deep down chivalry is still alive and well

lmao at mom!!

Chivalry is not dead in my household. I've been teaching my little boy to open doors for ladies since he was big enough to push them open. I still open the door for my wife and tell her she's beautiful.

However, I don't think this poll is a good example. I also don't see anything wrong with going Dutch on occasion.

When my wife and I started dating in college. I was poor and if she wanted to do anything like go out to eat more than once a week, and I was invited by her, then she would pay, because she was much better off than I. I always told her that if you pay now, I will pay later meaning when we get married and so on. Now, she can kinda go buy what she wants, but I have gone broke dating in the past paying for dates with women that wanted to do a lot. I didn't get to take my senior trip to Cancun because I spent the money I had saved on a new girlfriend that I wanted to pay for. I think that if the woman invites the woman should pay. However, if the guy wants to be invited and then pay, then that's ok too. I don't necessarily think that it should be mandatory to pay for a woman in every instance.

They dont do it because of equality they do it because the woman choose to date guys without cars and no jobs. The bad boys who like to scrounge off woman. Thats the ones woman need to watch out for. I think PP fits that discription.

Thats the lesson that woman need to learn most.

I can't drive 65

I can't drive 65

Note to 65- The definition of chivalry isn't: "When one whines on a serious sports gambling forum about granny and mama actually having to go through airport security like evrybody else".

I very much consider myself a chivalrous guy: opening doors, getting up from the table when a lady enters or exits, sending flowers unexpectantly, etc. BUT why is it that if I go out on a date with a girl who asks me that it should be understood that I pay? I don't mind paying, but why is it expected? I wouldn't date a woman like that.

Paying for dinner by the man was started and necessary when women were treated like dirt in the workforce and COULDN'T pay for dinners. I don't see a problem with a lady paying for a dinner that was her idea.

Justinsmom--you seem a little bitter at times. You're pretty funny most of the time, but I think some of your opinions will change with times. You're independent, make good money, but you never expect to pay for dinner? That makes no sense.

Kane ~ PP uses his right hand a lot. LOL

Dawg ~ if you notice I did correct myself when I used the word "never". I don't mind paying but I think it is more, for lack of a better word, chivlerous when a gentleman does. I guess I am a little old fashion and new age at the same time. I think it is romantic when a guy sweeps a girl off her feet and buys flowers and opens doors and takes her to dinner. But on the same hand I love to send my significant other flowers and take him out to dinner just because or send a card just because. So I am somewhere in the middle and it make complete sense to me!
And I guess I am a little bitter but I wear it well most of the time.
