pretty good guy, especially after I saw his stand up act at the Alfred Smith dinner, and Obama was pretty comical too. It's too bad that the american public didnt get a chance to see this side of McCain, as a portion of the population feels he is an angry far right guy, but he really is a good guy.

It too bad and that is the problem with this country. If anybody in this country views McCain as far right, they are idiots. It would be really hard to find any one in EITHER party currently serving who has been more consistanly middle of the road and successful working across the aisle as him throughout his career. But this is an election and that is not how he is labeled by Obama and the liberal press who want to win an election. It also doesn't help that in our two party system he's forced to kiss the ring of those convervatives he's fought with over the years in order to solidify the base. But, I have a feeling those convervatives will rue the day if McCain becomes president with a dem majority in both houses.

Flapjack,

McCain has for years been a moderate center of the aisle guy, but he changed after getting raped by Karl Rove in South Carolina. He has had to take positions that are foriegn to him to appease the religious right in rder to secure the nomination. Many of the things McCain now supports he was against just a few years ago.

they`ll rue the day even more when obama becomes president to go alongside nancy pelosi and the undertaker from utah...

imagiine the most extreme left wing,veto-proof pres/senate/house triumvirate in history....

it will be interesting 4 years down the road watching them try and blame bush.....

which is what they`ll do....it`s all they know...

I think thats my point, kinda of. Once/if he gets in the office, I tend to think he will be the type of guy he was for the 20 years before that. He realized he has to do a few things and say a few things that are contrary to his personal views. Ends justifying the means as opposed to a sudden change in beliefs at age 70. But, who really knows?

let me add..mccain was the darling of the media...that is while he was poking his finger in the eyes of other republicans...

the media loved him...endorsed him as their nominee for the republican party (the new york times et al)....

of course they also knew that he was the weakest candidate..the guy that would have the most difficult time consolidating his own base....

and that`s why he was forced to throw a hail mary with sarah palin...

to many problems...age... to mavericky...lousy,unpolished speaker..and the palin negatives.....thats why he`s having real trouble carrying traditional red states...

a nice guy?...sure...he`s to nice...

high character guy?..yeah...who cares?...the voters don`t...

brilliant planning...the dems outmanuevered the republicans from day one...

Once in a while Clinton gets blamed for things around here - the financial crises per se.

And Bush - not the individual - but the policies of the last 8 years will effect this Country for the next 20 years. The good news is a lot of Obama's campaign promises have no way of being pushed through.

you don`t think so?....looks like they have a chance to gain a veto proof majority in the senate and house....

so,we`ll be chasing that magic fossil fuel-free carbuerator that yields 100 mpg or that car that runs on water for the next 20 years while russia, china and india get richer and more powerful.... and the mullahs in the middle east becomes a bigger and bigger threat....

and all that oil sits in the ground...while those refineries never get built...while those nuclear plants never get built...while that coal shale never gets mined....

:nooo:

....coal shale is now viable?.....really?...point me to the link......all that oil.....is this the oil that GW Sr. banned from being drilled? The ban that GW Jr. lifted a few months before the election?.........The same oil that the republicans in controlling the senate for 12 of the past 14 years and the executive the last 8 made no effort to drill for?..........I realize that GW has no faith in any source of energy other that burning the remains of dinosaurs......go figure.......I have noticed.....that as GW's condition flares up....................................it is reflected.............................by his expressing himself........................................................................more and more.....................................................................................in incoherent sentence fragments..................separated by more and more...............................................................................................................................................periods..............................................................................

There wasn't that many periods.

I like the periods . . . it adds a pregnant pause to the discussion . . . . . . . gives people time to think about what was just said before moving on to the next sentence. . . . . in a way a period just can't. See?

I wish he was an angry far right guy instead of a puzzy, he votes with the enemy/liberals way too much.

and he'll actually be forced to shake hands with the other side of the aisle. . . right after he takes the Dems coffee order

He might punch the 'liberals', he might shake their hands. Nobody ever really knows.

Whatever the case, if I were him, at his age and after getting totally f*cked by his own party in 2000 and having unlimited funds at his wifes disposal, I would just enjoy the rest of my life if he loses.
