McDonald's is pushing to turn around its U.S. business, which has seen sales and customer visits slip for two years in a row at established locations amid intensifying competition. Already this year, the company has made a number of announcements including a simplified grilled chicken recipe, curbing the use of antibiotics in chicken, and a pay bump and vacation time for workers at company-owned stores.

Vacations for company owned stores! Majority of McDonald's are Franchise. Read this story in local paper....

This McDonald's is a franchise as are most and owns 3-4 other McDonald's locally while paying their workers 7.25 an hour and planning on expanding.......

I can't afford to pay a my workers a wage above poverty but I will be adding another store and I will continue to provide my workers a 50% meal discount :0008

I thought they already had bigger burgers. Angus burgers?

They should stick with the basics, nobody wants that shit.

Almost everyday I go through the McDonalds drive through for a cup of coffee because I'm on the go. I have one sausage mcmuffin w/o egg on their $1 menu (only one). Costs slightly over $2, but I'm on the go so it's worth it.

Having said that, I may go there 1-2x a year for lunch, that's it. When I do go I enjoy it, but I would rather pack a healthy lunch. As far as I'm concerned McDonalds serves its purpose. If I have ever had a problem there they are quick to correct it.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
I remember

I remember

When they opened in the Cleveland Ohio suburbs 1961 or so. Killed some small good burger joints. (Golden Point Burgers)
Burgers were actually decent, 15 cents, fries a dime,
shakes 20 cents.

Big Mac did not come out till mid 60's

Friend of mine's father passed on a couple franchises
for $8-$10k, a lot of coin back then.

I was working at one of their main competitors back then, Burger Chef...charbroiled and MUCH better than Mickey D....paid me 90 cents an hour.

After gubberment taxes I netted 60 cents. Good fringe benefits though, friends and family ate free, frequently.
