Umm, I don't think people really understand this whole thing. I grew up in Michigan and lived in Ann Arbor for awhile. We disliked OSU and hoped Michigan kicked their ass, but that's the end of it. I now live in Columbus, and I am starting to get it. These window-lickers have nothing else. OSU football is it. It is pretty much the only thing they have.
In other parts of the country, people get into other things (pro football, ML baseball, NBA, etc) but in Columbu, you have Buckeye football. It is the only thing people have to latch on to. If you try to make an argument for the Columbus Blue Jackets, take it somewhere else. Buckeye football is the only thing that matters. The AM sports station talks about OSU/UofM every day. In Ann Arbor, WTKA brings up the game on occasion, but it spends a lot of time talking about MSU and Notre Dame. The focus isn't there. Down here, this game is everything. I am surprised John Cooper didn't kill himself while he was nearing the end of his coaching reign at OSU because I can only imagine what kind of treatment he received.
All that said, I was surprised that Nebraska fans are classy. Figured they would have the same mindset as Columbus folk. I've heard that LSU fans are nuts fom guys I used to play college baseball with. Not surprised they were mentioned after some of the stories I heard.
Go Blue!
