Started him off with a fastball in every at bat. The man is the best there is, you had to know an adjustment was coming. There was no way that kid was going to make Cabrera look silly 4 times in a row.

Too bad for the kid, Tito didn't know that....and left him in there too long. The kid deserved better.

I'd agree that MCab is one of the best hitters in the game today - maybe THE best - and by the end of his career, maybe one of the all time greats.

But he certainly is not one of the "best ever" PLAYERS... he is a hitter only.

Just look at WAR this year - he is not even #1 in the MLB - while his hitting standings are out of this world, his baserunning and fielding are very subpar.

No, #1 in baseball (and has held this spot most of the year) is none other than the amazingly talented Carlos Gomez.. who impacts the game on both sides of the ball. Easily the best CF defensively in the game... and a pretty good offensive player too....

How about 18 HR, 29 SB, 9 3B's, .291 average and Gold Glove defense in CF? A WAR of 6.5, compared to Cabrera at 6.2?

Yes, to be a "best ever", you need to be good in all phases of the game, IMHO.

One of baseball's best kept secrets: Carlos Gomez!

Did Gomez win the Triple Crown or was he a MVP...our heros in baseball are hitters and pitchers. Not so much fielders.

Tell that to Brooks Robinson.

I'm not saying that Gomez is better than Cabrera overall (although the advanced metrics certainly show he is this year).

I'm refuting your argument that Cabrera is the best ever. I agree with the hitting part, but that is all he brings to the game. In the other areas, he is a net drag on team performance.

Many fans only look at offense and don't dig into the other parts of the game.

Like they say, chicks dig the long ball.

He is a DH.

I'm guessing you don't watch him play too often. At least not outside a sportscenter highlight of him mashing one 450 feet. He's very competent at 3b. Did you watch the all star game, perhaps? He made at least 3 above average plays with the glove.

He's a very underrated fielder.

Where it is real F ing COLD
He;s definitely the best hitter in baseball and I don't think it is even close. People like Trout over him cause of defense and base stealing. Cabrerra's bat presence is just too much.
