I think Betone is on to something:facepalm:

Guidelines in play here are 9-1-3 and 9-1-4 of the NCAA football rulebook.

Article 3 states that, ?No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of the helmet.? Article 4 states that, ?No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, elbow or shoulder.?

Lol...This explanation of my argument, one more time.

My argument is the precedenct Slive set with the suspesnions earlier in the year of hits on "defenseless players". That's the precedent he set. My only point here has been that Murray wasn't defenseless. There's no definition of a defenseless player so I guess it just has to be based on opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

I don't think suspending Dial would have any affect on the outcome of the NC game whatsoever, win or lose. I just don't think it's the right thing to do. Flag, definitely...suspension, no

I'm out.

I will assume at this point that your internet provider does not allow for search engines. Here is what a defenseless player is. Surely you can connect the dots now right:facepalm:

By playing rule, a defenseless opponent is defined by ?one who because his physical position and focus of concentration is especially vulnerable to injury.? One of the example in the rule book is a receiver whose focus in on catching a pass.?

And Murray was neither of those, thanks for the definition.

Peace.

This is exactly the rule that Rocky brought up.

And yes, if it was McCarron, holy shit I couldn't imagine what would have happened. Hell he told the ref to throw a flag on the one play and got it. :142smilie

This is so cut and dry you would have to be a delusional Alabama fan to think differently. It was definitely a dirty and illegal hit. I think the rules now are bs for the defense (it's like every hit is illegal), but this play would have been dirty in 1980 too. It transcends the rules and time. That will always be and always has been a dirty play and should be appropriately punished per prior example of a similar dirty hit.

speaking of the 1980's it reminded me a bit of Charles Martin ensuring Jim McMahon wasn't going to make a tackle on an interception:

Shocker:facepalm:

You think the SEC coaches have this one marked down to bring up at the meetings? This one will get real interesting especially that head of officials backed down off his original stance.

Note to Mike Slive - When you start shit you aren't prepared to follow through with, feel the heat. You will be bombarded by 11 coaches come SEC meetings. Don't make the rule dipshit.

Safety is apparently only important in September  Not the last we have heard of this incident.

As a side not, would love for you to revisit the other thread and elaborate on the Gruden debacle.
