Since we are all about small sample sizes, I figured I would look at in progress box scores today.

Miguel Cabrera is 0-1
Mike Trout is is 1-1 with a double and a run scored.

Sure looks like these guys are going in opposite directions.

I wasn't comparing Trout to Jeter, shawn was right, you missed the point.
You told Boys he couldn't use the poor start by Trout to make any future assumptions because Jeter had slumps 40 games running SEVERAL times and JETER'S going to the Hall of fame. If that wasn't a comparison of Trout's short slump to Jeter's 40 game slumps( indirect or otherwise) ..and therefore insinuating Trout has Hall of Fame talent like Jeter's then I stand corrected.

I decided I'm just going to turn this into an In Game thread, they both just had an at bat, so I will update:

Miguel Cabrera is 0-1 with a walk
Mike Trout is is 2-2 with a HR, a double, 2 runs scored and a RBI

Well I wanted to compute some stats off of this. Looks like Trout has a 1.000 OBP while Cabrera has a 0.500. Cabrera's is good, but obviously not as good as Trout's, wow just wow.

I started to compute slugging % but it made my head hurt a little too much.

A Trout Jeter comparison? 3 years in the bigs?
That's funny.

So you thought I was comparing their slumps?

Why would the fact that this is Trout's third year have anything to do with their slumps?

And no I wasn't comparing their slumps. It was an example pertaining to sample size.

I know it was about sample size. But in the same breath, there was a subtle suggestion(or so I thought) that Trout is future Hall of Fame material, which....he may very well be. My point was... that too, is hardly enough time to judge. I see where you were going with that now, but only because I see now that you were ridiculing his stat.
Ridiculing Boy's posted stat is what I meant.

Got it, no problem. Yeah I picked Jeter just off the top of my head as he has had slumps but is still considered a Hall of Famer, not insinuating that Trout is destined for that.
