With or without a dream, 0-2 the last 2 days, and my bankroll is down the drain. That's it for me, I wish the rest of you luck, now I have to find something to do during the summer till football comes around.

Final 12-7

As predicted earlier, the Texas bats were lively, Oliver pitched well, and Prokopec got crushed. The over 9/ texas +150 parlay won almost 4 units (3.881) on a 1 unit bet.

Notice: $1,250 on Yankees and $2,000 on Dodgers = $3,250. He was up 2.5 units before he had his dream.

I sympathize...I remember not so long ago blowing my entire roll on a Utah Jazz home game. They had only lost three games at home all year and it was either their last or second to last home game against an incredibly weak opponent. I had them in all kinds of parlays because I got greedy and I just knew they were a sure thing. Sure enough, I lost it all. I had to take a few months off after that one. But, live and learn. As I've heard said, Life is the toughest teacher becuase she tests you first and then gives you the lesson.

Good Luck on future endeavors.

I personally do not believe laying ones balance on any given game can ever be justified under any circumstances. The fact is that any game can lose. Just ask Georgetown and Ewing in the 1985 NCAA championship or the Colts in superbowl three. We all have losing periods from time to time. Sometimes extended bad streaks. I think the wise thing to have been done would have been to re-adjust his goal. The fact is that there is a major sport to bet on most days year round. You must make a plan and stick to it. If it is viable it will carry you through the bad streaks. Chances are if he had won tonight that he would have turned around and layed his bankroll on one game again. Sooner or later he would have lost. I think you bet more when winning and less when losing. Chasing losses with higher wagers will put you in the poor house. If I had lost half of my bankroll, I would be betting less not more. The sad thing is that he could have made money that he lost back by simply following the advice of some of the cappers who posted on this thread. Betting on sports for profit is not a get rich quick scheme. It is just not set up that way. It takes time, patience, and consistency to a plan.............

Fly,

You got that right about it being a waste of time. Besides, it looks like he got some good advice from *almost* everybody (no offense Nolan). Nobody can help that he chose to ignore it.

Like you said, you have to learn it on your own. A bunch of people chirping won't make a bit of difference to somebody predisposed to self-destruction.

Everyone has an opinion, as it should be. And granted the guy was going to lose his money anyway. But to make fun of a person who just lost $3000 in two games (his entire bankroll) or say it is a waiste of time to constructive criticism is wrong. The fact is almost all of us were where he is (some more, some less) when we first started out. Go ahead, make your statements of who cares, cry baby, so forth. But if even one post by anyone who offers help gets through to him or someone else just reading these posts trying to learn then it is not a waiste of time. It could save someone years of learning the hard way as most of us had to before there were forums like this. If you do not agree you have a right to your opinion and I respect that even when I disagree. But so do I.............

Further to Prospector's post, you may have heard this saying before, but here goes:
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and everyone thinks that the other guy's stinks.

"Everybody's got opinions
but nobody's got the answers
and the shit you ate for breakfast
well it'll only give ya cancer
We're runnin' in a circle
runnin' to the mornin' light
and if ya ain't quite workable
It's been one hell of a night"

actually my point was ...

if he had not dropped the wad on Monday -
he would have given himself a chance to win on Tuesday.

and in my opinion that is what this game is all about, finding a way to allow yourself a chance to win.

Yes, i suppose you're right about opinions. except i'm not going to call anyone and everyone an asshole because they have one. Only an asshole would do that.

I'm happy to see this on the first page.

Was going to ask you to do this Jack but got busy and forgot.

This is an excellent idea!

An example of what not to do.. and with no disrespect mean to the original poster. Do this too many times and you will be BROKE.

I know... I've done it!

But I'm not going to do it ever again until I find that ONE game that is a sure thing!

The last time I did this (and was dumb enough to bitch about it) my wife, Kathy, said that I should get a tatoo on my left forearm... "There is no such thing as a sure thing".. and the other arm...."If pigs could fly"
