Calgary at Carolina...................................................................................

Calgary 11-16-5 on road
Carolina is 12-13-8 at home (but 11-22 ATS at home)

Teams last met Dec of past season, Calgary won 7-2 at home.
Tho Carolina is 4-1-2 against Calgary last 7 overall (back to '97)

over is 5-2 last 7 meetings
over is 2-5-2 'Canes last nine overall

Calgary is 5-4-1 last 10 games, and 2-2 on this 9 game road swing. Need some wins bad to hope for any post season.

Hurricanes are 5-3-2 last 10, and 3-0-1 last 4, but 0-1-6 last 7 at home (since jan 16).

Calgary is five points behind Dallas for final playoff spot.(Edmonton and Vacouver ahead of Calgary)

Calgary's Iginla leads NHL in goals, plays a part in 48% of Calgary's offense this season, and 61.9% in last five games.

Carolina is 8-19 ATS as home favorite of .5 goals or less
Carolina is 3-13 ATS in home game where total is 5.5
but you know they want to change that dismal home record, and have been playing well of late.

Todd Kimberly of Calgary Herald on injuries:

"Calgary -- C Rob Niedermayer (stomach flu) practised with the team Sunday, and could play tonight. C Scott Nichol (knee), RW Jukka Hentunen (knee), LW Dave Lowry (separated shoulder) and

D Brad Werenka (post-concussion syndrome) are all on IR.

Carolina -- That Weekes trade left the 'Canes down two forwards, and D David Tanabe had been taking shifts on the wing, but when D Aaron Ward injured his arm Friday, the team dipped down to Lowell (AHL) for help. LW Jaroslav Svoboda, the former sniper with the WHL's Kootenay Ice, has been recalled and will play on the fourth line tonight."

and on goaltending, Whitmore called up now:

"with Roman Turek standing a very good chance of playing all 17 remaining regular-season games, now that Mike Vernon has cleared waivers and been demoted to Saint John"

starting goalie for 'Canes is anyone's guess...

It is hard to believe, but CAR last 4 home games have ALL been ties, and 5 of the last 6 at home. 17 of CAR 73 points have come from OT losses or ties.

Montreal at NY Rangers

Montreal at NY Rangers

Montreal 11-17-4 on road
NYR are 17-14-2 at home

Larry Brooks of NY Post:

"Lindros, who left Saturday's 3-2 OT loss in Pittsburgh early in the third period with a bruised left foot he sustained blocking a shot, was limping at Rye yesterday, and is very iffy for tonight.

"I don't know if it's going to swell up too much for me to get my foot in the boot, and even if I can, if I'm going to have enough strength to push off," he said with a shrug after treatment in the training room. "We'll see."

Translation: Even if Lindros can suit up, no one should expect too much. "

Still no line posted at noon est. overnite NYR were -150 moneyline

Montreal 4-5-1 last 10, and 2-2-1 last five games.
NYR 4-6 last 10, and 2-5 since Olympic break, and 2-3 last five at home

Teams have met three times this season, NYR won all. 2-1 away (10/15), 3-2 at home (11/11), and 3-1 away (12/1).

NYR and MTL are tied at 66 points. Winner tonight will have a tie for 7th place with NJ in conference. But WA has 65 points, and Buffalo 63.

NYR are ranked higher in standings because they have more wins. So it's more of a must win for Habs.

Not historically easy tho, NYR 7-1 ATS vs Habs last three seasons overall.

Theodore is 1-5-1 vs NYR, with2.55 gga, .906 save pct
Richter is 10-8-6 vs Habs, with 3.11 gga, .890 pct.

Colorado at St Louis

Colorado at St Louis

Colorado is 15-12-4 on road
STL 20-10-1 at home

Colorado hasn't been on road since Feb 8. Went 5-0-1 on road since jan 5 Detroit loss. 10 of Colo's last 16 game are on road.

Ahvs 7-2-1 last 10 games, and 4-1-1 since Olympic break
Blues 2-6-2 last 10, and haven't won since break (0-4-2).

Teams met twice this season, both at Colorado. Blues won 1-0 (10/31), and Ahvs won 3-1 (2/13).

Ahvs have won four of last six in STL. Ahvs 7-2 ATS last nine meetings overall (back to march 2001).

STL under is 9-2 after allowing 4 goals or more in previous game.
This from D. Goold of Post-Dispatch

"Winning three of their previous 14 games has put the Blues at a crucial point for Monday night's game. Blues coach Joel Quenneville held a rare Sunday practice because of the importance of this stretch. Faced with squandering a three-game home stand before going west, the Blues must win.

They must convince themselves they can solve, by Game 82, the troubles they had in Game 10, Game 28 and Game 62.

"I think we had the emotion necessary to play" on Saturday, Quenneville said. "It could be a defining moment, a defining game or a defining play. It could be how we play in a particular game that pulls us out of it. I see it coming. ... We need the emotion, the mind-set to win a 1-0, 2-1 hockey game."

The focus on strict defense is in part because Doug Weight and Keith Tkachuk remain out with injuries, but also because it is what the Blues should do best. It also puts a premium on goaltending. Brent Johnson will make an unprecedented start in goal after two consecutive losses"

STL is 8-4 ATS after allowing 4 goals or more in previous game.

Roy is 13-8-5 vs STL, with 2.37 gga, .917 save pct
Johnson is 2-2-0 vs Ahvs, 1.85 gga, .928 pct.

Roy has allowed 2 or less goals in 13 of last 17 games.

Colorado next game is at AT thurs, Blues next is to SJ wed.

and standings story, this from Jim Benton of Rocky Mt News:

Colorado is close to wrapping up its eighth consecutive division title. The Avalanche holds a 13-point lead over Edmonton in the Northwest Division. The Avalanche is fighting with San Jose for the second seed in the Western Conference. Colorado is two points ahead of the Sharks after San Jose's 7-4 victory against Vancouver on Sunday night........

We're fighting for the fifth seed and we could be fighting for the sixth, seventh, eighth before we know it," Blues coach Joel Quenneville said.

under is 3-0 last 3 meetings
under is 5-2-2 last 9 meetings
under is 5-4-1 Ahvs last 10 overall
under is 16-10 Ahvs on road
under is 11-6 for Ahvs after scoring 4 goals or more in previous game
under is 12-8 for Roy on road
under is 6-12 for Johnson at home.
under is 2-4 last three season meetings in STL

Columbus at Pittsburg

Columbus at Pittsburg

Columbus 6-22-3 on road (but 2-12 ATS as road dog of .5 goals or less)
Pitt 15-16-2 at home

Teams have met once this season. Feb 28 Pitt won 4-3 on road, in OT after overcoming 3-1 deficit and news hours earlier that Lemieux would be out for season. Aubin/Tugnutt

Pitt is four points from final playoff spot

Columbus is 3-6-1 last 10, and 2-3 last five on road. Beat Detroit and LA, lost to MN, Colo and Phx.

Pitt is 4-6 last 10, 3-2 last five. Of last 6 wins, five came in OT sez AP.

Pitt is 4-13-0-1 vs Western Conference!
Columbus is 5-7-4-1 vs East.

Pitt just off big win over final playoff spot holder NYR. Columbus just off embarassing lackluster loss at home to MN last night.

Columbus is 6-15 ATS after a loss when away
Colum is 1-2 ATS following a shutout by 3 goals or more

this bit on Tugnutt, who played very well recently (trade rumors) until last night , by Joe Starkey of Tribune-Review:

Tugnutt made 29 saves against the Penguins 11 days ago, but he has a career record of 2-13-1 against them.

?There are a lot of guys who played on the same team with him here, and we know him, how to play against him,? Kovalev said......

The Blue Jackets recalled goaltender J.F. Labbe from Syracuse (AHL) on Friday because Marc Denis had a strained groin. In 42 games with Syracuse, Labbe posted a 20-14-7 record with a 2.34 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. His six shutouts were leading the league, and he was tied for third in wins and fifth in goals-against average. Labbe might get the call tonight. ?

the article here.....http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports/penguinslive/s_60564.html

Chicago at Los Angeles

Chicago at Los Angeles

Chicago is 12-15-5 on road
LA 13-13-5 at home

Teams have met three times this season. Chi won first, at home 5-1 (10/30), and won second, away, 3-2 (11/1). LA won last, at Chi, 5-2 (12/9).

Hawks 5-5 last 10 games, and 2-3 since break, 2-4 on road last 6

Kings 4-4-2 last 10, and 2-2-2 last six at home (2-0-2 last four at home).

and this by H. Wittenberg from Hawks official site:

Coach Brian Sutter says it will be a game time decision whether Alex Zhamnov will play after missing the last two games due to a hip injury. Zhamnov is second in team scoring (19-37=56) and is key on the power play and penalty killing. If he doesn't play tonight, Sutter will not use him tomorrow in Phoenix.....

Coach Sutter has indicated that he will probably alternate goaltenders Jocelyn Thibault (30-18-7) and Steve Passmore (5-3-2) during the trip due to the back-to-back scheduling of the games . The Hawks are 5-4-2 in the first game of back-to-back situations this season, and 5-6-0 in the second

Chicago is 4-10 ATS after win when away
LA is 7-3 ATS when home after a loss

Hawks are 4th in Conference--and with their big winning home record want to stay 4th to keep home ice in playoffs start.

LA is tied for 5th Conf spot with Phx and STL.

LA under is 14-5 at home with total of 5 or less
under is 6-3-1 last 10 meetings (back to 11/99)
under 0-2-1 this season

Unbelievable. Now 6 of the last 7 ties at home. My #s were off yesterday I guess.

As a Caps fan, all of CAR ties are really getting frustrating. 24.3% of their points on the year have come from OT ties or losses.
