Volfan: Sorry to clog up your thread with other stuff, but I want to respond to Mistake Finder.
MF: It is funny you mention this.....because I used to handicap the SAME way as Volfan. All I did was look to see which lines I thought didnt look right, and go the other way. It didnt matter what team it was....I just went the other way. However, this year I have taken that outlook and "revised" it a tad.
Normally, the old me would take the same 2 teams Vol has.....and you are right....more often you will split. But now I have mixed in a little bit of basketball into my handicapping......
For instance, I have seen UCONN play and they are absolutely terrible. And by no means, will I ever back this team as a road chalk. The betting public is still probably hung up on the name of UCONN, and there you have the line. However, I do not trust Seton Hall either......as they do not have any shot makers, and their home court advantage is not that great. This is now a layoff game for me.
Texas and Oklahoma State......I am not sure that when all is said and done, that this will be a big difference in the betting public.....You do have Texas as a Top 10 team as a home dog. But I think a lot of the luster has been taken off Texas in recent games. Oklahoma State is a Top 3 team IMHO......senior talent is rarely effected by going on the road......oklahoma state has all the pieces.....ball handling, everyone can knock down the jumper, size, rebounding and toughness. Seeing this team as almost a pick-em is a gift......
Old me takes Texas (when I know damn well that Oklahoma State is the better team)...new me takes Oklahoma State because I know damn well, if I trick myself and go the other way, I will be pissed.
