The wolves do have something to play for
The home games this week -- against Boston tonight and Denver on Wednesday -- have no impact on the Wolves' playoff position. But they mean something for momentum and posterity.
Win one and the Wolves would match the best record in team history (50-32 in 1999-2000). Win both and it becomes their best regular season ever.
But resting players -- specifically Garnett, the busiest Wolf -- has value, too. Garnett (3,112) and Wally Szczerbiak (3,058) are the only ones to have played more than 2,300 minutes.
Garnett skipped the season finales in 2000 and 2001 and
he might do it again if the Wolves beat Boston. "I would love to get to 50 wins, and try to keep some consistency," he said. "My body feels great. I've been nicked up a little bit, which everybody is around this time . . . I can get plenty of rest when this thing is over."
