You should run for office...:0003

I'll say that a free thinker not bound by partisan political agendas is what we need, so maybe I should run. Of course, I grew Marijuana in college, used every recreational drug not involving needles, was expelled from 2 high schools and arrested for DUI and public intox in my college years, so not sure I'd make it very far in politics.

Just ban guns from men. Women can still own them. Don't see any of these shootings committed by a woman and if only women are armed to the teeth then perhaps asshole republicans won't shut down the government to defund planned parenthood and cost the taxpayers millions upon millions.

The debate should be about restrictions on gun ownership in an effort to reduce the number of guns per capita. Because less guns per capita = less gun crime. In my plan, I wouldn't take everyones5guns, just convicted criminals of any type. DUI...you can only own hunting weapons. Misdemeanor. ...no guns for extended period, with ownership of hunting weapons in time if parole not violated. Felony.. no guns for life.

You like?

Although this would certainly address some of the possible issues and most definitely curtail the killings somewhat (from those with a criminal past, certainly), I don't think what you call for will cast a wide enough net on individuals such as Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold or Adam Lanza or Christopher Harper-Mercer. Did any of them even have a previous criminal record? Did they ever do anything to warrant the stipulations that you suggest? It seems evident to me, that the only way to stop these individuals is to eliminate their access to guns, period.

But how can this be done when a large enough percentage of the population are willing to accept these atrocities "as part of living in America," for one, or that the lives of innocents are the payment they are more than willing to make in order to keep their guns?

The answers, unfortunately, are quite sobering.

Peace! :)

. Like racism, it takes multiple generations to make progress in terms of changing culture. Let's start now in terms of major restrictions, wait for progress (lower gun crimes rates) and let our children and eventually their children carry the torch.

Well, given the option between slow incremental change (what you suggest) and the status quo of NOTHING being done (what some are willing to accept), then there is no comparison.

And what a legacy we leave those that come after us. Sad.

Peace! :)
