October 21, 2014 in Lumberton NC three thugs broke into a house and were robbing the home but decided to rape the teen granddaughter. Grandfather was able to get his shotgun and shoot all three killing one thug. Granddad took a bullet from one of the rapists.
Score one for the good guys . Only problem is we have to feed and house two of the thugs in Central Prison.
Aren't you glad he had a gun?
Too bad the three patrons of a pub in Plymouth England who were attacked yesterday by religious nut with an axe did not have gun.
The barkeep should have had one and someone would still be alive.

Unintentional gun deaths 2005-2010: 3800
Accidental gun deaths in 2011: 591

That's not the world, that's just the USA. In 7 years, that's 4,391 Americans. Compare that to the number of coalition soldiers killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom (4,689) during the first 7 years. Kind of crazy, no?

I'll give a 2 year old a loaded gun and put him in a room with you. In another room, I'll give a 2 year old a banana and I will sit with him. Which room has the higher chance of a death occurring? You do realize the purpose of guns is to kill, right?

I think your Average Joe would take their chances with the banana, as well.

(And I do realize that there will be the odd tyke here and there who will be hell bent on peeling that banana, and placing it precariously on the floor to fuck you up!)

I own guns. I shoot my guns. Safely. I store them securely. I do not carry, and I do not permit loaded guns in my house or vehicle.

I am not afraid of guns. I AM afraid of idiots, morons, nutjobs, mental defectives, and other dangerous people who have guns.

Like that stupid woman who put a loaded gun within reach of a two year old, She deserved a round in the head. But suppose you had been shopping in the same store, and the two year old put a round through YOUR head?

Citizens carrying? Just because they have a permit, it does not increase their IQ. Carrying loaded guns should be limited to LEO and soldiers on the battlefield.

I don't want to get shot in Wal*Mart because some idiot was carrying and had a brain fart.

Like I said, she deserved a bullet in the head. Now she won't give her two year old access to a loaded gun again so the kid can kill someone else. Better her than a bystander.

..............................................................................

I pretty much agree with all that.

I have to feel for the 2 yr old though, not knowing any better. I cannot imagine what his life will be like. The guilt, the mental health etc etc.

when I was in high school we had a teen go hunting with his brother. they were crossing a barbed wire fence, his shotgun went off killing his brother in front of him.

that guy was never the same........... I mean it was sad to watch him try to maintain his life in school.

Two good examples of what happens when people who don't understand, know or care how to handle guns safely are allowed to have guns. Tragedy happens, and it involves other people.

I have no problem with hunters, provided they have received proper training before they allowed to own guns. The mickey-mouse concealed weapons courses now offered for concealed carry are a complete joke.

Carrying within reach of a two year old, a hunting gun loaded when not actually perusing game, are just exactly what is to be expected when idiots use guns.

When I was a kid, the local police station offered real gun training at their station basement pistol range which had a stop and sand trap adequate for all hand guns and rimfire rifles. I attended one night a week for a year. If I'd attempted to bring a loaded gun onto the range, I'd have been banned for life.

Those off-duty cops taught me how to shoot a rifle, and to this day I can most all but the best. And I never carry a loaded gun anywhere unless I am on the line to shoot right then. To take a loaded gun into the club house will get you thrown out of the club.

My second amendment rights end where your right to public safety begins.

CLEVELAND (AP) ? A 12-year-old boy brandishing what turned out to be a fake gun is dead after being shot by a Cleveland police officer.

An attorney for the family says the boy died early Sunday morning at a hospital.

The shooting happened Saturday after officers responded to reports of a male with a gun. A man who called 911 told dispatchers that the boy was at a recreation center pointing a pistol that was "probably fake" and scaring everyone.

Police say the officer fired two shots after the boy pulled the fake weapon from his waistband. The orange safety indicator had been removed from the barrel.

Investigators say the boy did not point the fake pistol at officers but reached for it after being told to raise his hands.

Here's the AP's earlier story on the incident:

CLEVELAND (AP) ? Police say a 12-year-old boy brandishing what turned out to be a fake gun at a Cleveland recreation center was shot and wounded by a responding officer.

Cleveland's Emergency Medical Service tells WOIO-TV (http://bit.ly/1FefMZO ) that the boy is at a hospital with serious injuries. His mother says he's in surgery for a stomach wound.

The shooting happened at about 3:30 p.m. at Cudell Rec Center after officers responded to reports of a male with a gun.

Deputy Chief Ed Tomba tells the TV station the boy had the weapon in his waistband, pulled it out and one officer fired two shots. He says the boy didn't make any verbal threats or point the gun.

WOIO reports the gun was a replica of semi-automatic pistol, and the orange safety indicator in the muzzle was missing.

I was behind a guy at Kroger yesterday who had a gun in a holster. He looked like he just got off the Ponderosa. WTF is with these people?
