She's probably right. This photo was taken directly following the public humiliation...

this is a great thread and illustrates why guys get hurt all the time. :mj07:

I used to have a good arm until I hurt it playing the Wii 2.5 years ago. :sadwave:

I played in a dodgeball league in April that was a blast, but I think everybody on our team had some sort of injury during the month :142smilie I had to have an MRI and everything! :142smilie I didn't miss any games though when the MD told me I couldn't hurt my knee any worse!

How about dunking the basketball? I used to easily be able to do a reverse 2 handed dunk in traffic and take one step and dunk. I tried to touch the rim at the dodgeball league in April, and I couldn't even grab the rim! :mj07: :sadwave:

I've personally found that since I've become older (well out of my 20s), it's hard to find something that fills that competitive urge/void. I think that's why so many former jocks like to bet on the games, play golf, and play poker. That gives you the competition even when you can't compete in sports like you did in the past.

LOL! I haven't dunked since my Sophomore year in college! Interesting fact, our starting 5 in Junior High, all could dunk in warm-ups. Shortest was 6ft, I was 6'2" and the center was 6'6" that was cool. Now I think about hopping over a curb, and then I think twice! LOL!! OF course that is an exaggeration... :SIB

I could one-step grab the rim with two hands and dunked a handful of times off alley-oops at 5'9".

Now I'm lucky to sniff the brackets, but this is 50ish lbs later, too.

:142smilie I was going to mention Uncle Rico before. This thread definitely has a "Ricoish" quality. Gotta love the sidearm fling of the steak...

Having said that, this is also the same guy who said he didn't believe me when I said I've made halfcourt shots, so you have to take him with a grain of salt...

:142smilie No, apparently not. The fact that he isn't really a "sports guy" is a big part of it. I think he looks at somebody making a 50 foot shot as being next to impossible, since it would probably take him about 30 minutes to make a free throw. I just think some people can't wrap their heads around certain sports-related feats, for whatever reason.

I remember a few months ago I was watching the morning ESPN show, I think it's called 'First Take.' They were showing that video clip of LeBron making a basket with a football from the OTHER free throw line. So the guy on the show was saying that if he had 25 shots or so, he thought he could make at least one. The co-anchor laughed at him and said not a chance. He said something like, yeah, the accuracy would be really hard because the ball isn't round, etc. She then said, no, I don't think you could throw it that far. He looked at her like she was crazy. :mj07: He said, you don't think I could throw the ball that far??? That's like 25 or 26 yards! But she still insisted she didn't think he could throw a football that far.

There was a guy on our team who was 5' 10" and could dunk an 11' goal (could raise the goals to the ceiling at YMCA). He also won the dunk contest at the Las Vegas Invitational! at 5' 10"!!

I coached a kid at UW-Stout (Lehman) that was playing intramural basketball, guys came over to get me and said, coach gotta check out Lehman. I said, I am not watching some fat farm boy play basketball, that stuff just would not be pretty!

They talked me into it, the kid is under 6 ft, weighing 3 bills, and then he he spins on a 6'5" + player in the game 1-step in the lane and literally jumps over the dude for a two handed jam. I was like Randy Jackson before Randy Jackson was on American Idol... saying "WHAT.... WHAT!!!"
