There is another thread on a great book, The Omnivore's Dilemma. It is worth reading, IMHO. http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=332066How bad are the prices for organic meat?
The author makes the point that organic meat may only be incrementally better than what's in the local market. Some organic meat is fed the same diet that feedlot cattle get; only they eat organic corn instead of regular corn. In my experience Grass fed beef is about twice as expensive as feedlot beef. It takes four or five years to get a grass fed cow to slaughter. It takes 14-18 months to get a corn-fed cow to slaughter.
You can by Wild Alaskan Salmon for a reasonable price. Make sure it is wild, and make sure it is boneless and skinless. If it doesn't say it is boneless, there will be bones in that can. If it doesn't say it is skinless there will be scales in there.
There is a lot of truth in this.America wonders why everyone is so fat. Because its usually way more expensive to eat good food.
