My best friends little girl got Married today......We've been friends for 30+ years........Wedding was at 1, looking for people to arrive at the hall around 1:30....In order to save a little money they decided to cater the reception themselves.....I've offer my assistance on more than one occasion, 25 yrs in F&B hosting events......They really wanted to pull this off themselve so I stepped aside and gave a hand when asked...My wife took care of the Bridal Parties Hair & my daughter was going to take photos for them at the reception.......

Going into yesterday they said everythings allset and we're ready to go..... I'm thinking good for them because it's a huge undertaken....I said if they need anything let me know as my house is 2 miles from the Hall.........At 9 this morning I get a call...."We don't know how to set up the tables & food station can you help, we'll be at the Hall at 10:30...........No problem, I'll be there with the kids in to help pitch in......Another phone call at 10 saying it will be closer to 11 before they get there.......Mind you the weddings at 1 and the Father of the Bride is coming with a U-Haul full of food which I find out was to be kept warm in a regular stove oven at the Hall............

In a panick my friend arrives and says "I need help!"..........I said to myself..........YOU THINK! The weddings in 2 hours dipshit!!!!! Trays of food, cheese in bags, boxes of crackers, stuffed mushrooms on trays (uncooked) dishes, kegs, box wine ect sitting in the back of a truck.......Then he says, I need to run to the Church and put up signs & balloons..............:facepalm.....the church is 15 mins in the wrong direction and he's 25 mins from his house.....He hasn't showered, shaved or dressed......We cram food into the oven and I tell him to get the rest off the truck while I hit the Church and get dressed.....Told him to go and I'll take care of it............BIG Mistake

I get to the house and tell my wife we're in a CLUSTER FUCK, she say 's I know the Bride was telling her all morning how unorganized they were for today......Thanks for the heads up phone call hun!..... I tell her to go to the Wedding with my daughter and my son & I would go finish setting up......We get back to the Hall and all they did was unload the truck and left everything sitting in the middle of the room, this is at 12:15.....I have no idea where anything is, what the menu is and guest (150) are 1:15 mins from coming through the door...............When I worked in the business I used to have dreams where I was doing an event and had no idea where things were and guest were coming......Today I lived it!

12:40 I called my wife, "you need to come help me''............She said "but the wedding starts in 20 mins"..........Thanks for the update :0074 :0074 :0074.........People are dropping off salads & apps on their way to the Church each asking where to put things.....One lady was so rude and asked me who was in charge! :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie I said good question!

My wife & daughter arrived and jumped right in, bless their hearts................We put out beer & wine, cheese & crackers to fend off the hungry guests arriving and jumped on the appts. Luckly the gal that was doing the cake jumped in and we pulled it off, missing the wedding but pulling it off......

The Mother of the Bridge comes up to me at the end of the event and says "we'll be down here at 8 in the morning cleaning up if you want to help"...........Go ahead and start without me hun!!!...........:0008

Needless to say, I'm enjoying a few (many) tonight!......My appologies in advance...........:0008

Have you done up the invoice you are going to drop off at his house tomorrow?

He stopped by today to thank me...............As soon as he came through the door I slapped him upside of the head.................He said "what's that for''.............I said nothing, just felt like doing it......Made me feel better.....:toast:
