My dog died today

My precious Effie (age 9) died today.

Yesterday she was playing fetch, today she's dead.


This morning all of a sudden out of nowhere she couldn't walk, I was about to take her to the vet, and she died lying on the floor at the edge of my bed, it was horrible. I wrapped her up in a blanket and said my goodbyes.

Dogs are awesome.

I am devastated.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, it is greatly appreciated. She was totally fine (we played fetch) and then within hours I watched her die right in front of me, it was absolutely horrific.

My other dog AJ (he's been with Effie for all 9 years) was right next to her when she died, so he's sad as well knowing his best buddy is gone. I am glad she died right next to me and AJ, as opposed to being alone on some vet table, but I would have liked at least 5 minutes to say goodbye. She did not deserve to go out like this. Again, I am glad she was not alone, but no dog should die like that, it ain't right.

I am guessing she had a Stroke or perhaps a Brain Aneurysm, I'll never know for sure what happened.

This has totally wrecked me (picking up her dead body completely destroyed me), it is going to take a long time to get over this, but again thanks for the kind words.

I know at times like this you should focus on the positive, she had a great 9 years, she was an awesome dog, she was loved, she had a great life. But at this moment it is hard to focus on that.



To all the Madjackers that have dogs.....don't take em for granted, give em belly rubs and hugs all you can, because it can end so fast. I'd do anything to give Effie one more belly rub, I miss her so much.

Sorry Kick, dogs truly are the best friends we can have. This is my biggest fear, our dog Derby passing in that manner and finding her that way. She is 85 pounds of muscle and love at 10 years old. Glad you have AJ. RIP Effie
