I've been really quiet looking for a spot. Found one.
Only playing one and playing it very, very big. It goes on Thursday. Buying back the hook but I don't think that it's needed.

Kent State -4 (-120)

what are your thoughts on kent state, just trying to figure out why you isolating this game as your big play? also, i understand that buying the 1/2 point is only 10 cents but is it really worth it to put up an extra 10 % just to have the benefit of a push at 4 instead of a loss? I try to avoid buying points in bball, will occasionally buy a 1/2 to get to 3 in football. good luck with the pick, i'lll take a deeper look at the game.

The MAC tournament is always a crapshoot, but Kent has handled OU twice this year. I was looking at the total on Akron and EMU, since both teams are good defensive teams, I was looking at the under, whats your thoughts?

All in

All in

Now that I have some time I can get into the reasoning.

First of all I have seen every team in the MAC quarters play live with the exception of Western Mich. I have watched Kent St and OU on multiple occasions.

Last Friday I saw Kent play as good of an all around game that I have watched all season. They took a decent team in Akron and flat out made them look silly. Smothering defense and well executed offensive sets, it was all there. So I feel that Kent State is peaking and playing their best ball of the season.

The flashes have beat OU twice this year and both games were tightly contested but Kent is playing much better now. OU does not travel that well and has and needed to go to OT to get by Ball St and a horrific Toledo team of late. They have zero quality wins on the road all season.

Kent has a deeper bench, they can go 9 deep and not lose much. Their 6th man, A Simpson, poured in 21 on the Zips. OU only goes 7 deep with any quality at all. and after their starting backcourt there is not much quality at all, period.

Kent has a huge advantage down on the block. The Flashes are much stronger so they should control the glass and eliminate any put backs on the OU end of the floor.

Kent has never lost a MAC tourney game as the #1 seed.

OU does have a terrific freshman guard named Cooper. He is the best freshman guard that I recall coming into the MAC going way back. Kent will counter with Singletary and crew with great perimeter defense. Cooper is also coming off of one of his worse games. it is possible that he has hit the "freshman wall"

I heard from a pretty reliable source at OU that they will not be traveling to this game with as many fans as they have had in years past. The Q is in Kent's back yard and they will have a mob of fans on hand. It should play out like a home game for them.

As far as buying the hook, I agree with you. I don't do it all the time but have dropped a few by the hook this year so with as big as I am playing this, I just felt that I should do it. I do think the number may go up a point or so.

MC, I agree with that play, Akron is very deliberate in their offensive sets right now. I really think that Eastern is a live dog as well.

Adding one more regular play and a couple of leans.

Buffalo PK one unit

Bulls are stronger and Miami is 3-14 away from home.

Leans:

EMU U 126
CMU +1'

YTD 137-111

Going to play Akron over 70' 2H.

Lots of ticky tack fouls called in the first half. Both team in the bounus by the 9 minute mark. Game also falls into the range where there may be some considerable fouling late

Glad I didn't play my leans but feel that both of the night games that I am on are strong

How bad do they want Akron out of this tournament? This reffing has been absolutely ridiculous.

If I didn't know better I would say that you are correct. It is obviously in the best interest of the MAC to have Akron advance into a possible Kent Akron rematch. These morons are just that incompetent. I have sent letters many times about the poor officiating in this league but it does not help. Every time a couple of decent refs come along it's just a matter of time until they get adopted by the big 10 or other power conferences.

All I know is that I find it very hard to believe that Akron fouls that much more than their opponents, yet game after game the whistles go against them.

Maybe they don't like Keith ??

Well , 2 OT's helped but really the next point of regulation sent it over. Here are some numbers for you:

56 fouls
5 disqualifications
7 technicals
2 ejections

Never a doubt ! :mj07:

I have tickets for the tourney but passed today as my wife couldn't tag along and my pals couldn't dodge work as well. I will be up there tomorrow night.

Well, I am screwed!!

With a few clicks of a mouse I have turned a good season into a very average one.

Ohio has some hot hands on the floor and is beating Kent to very loose ball. The Flushes have nothing going for them at all.Their three point guys can't buy one and they can't even hit a FT with any regularity.

And so it goes...:sadwave:

I wanted to write you earlier and I got tied up at work but I was afraid of this just like I was Akron but they got out of there fortunately with a win. I wrote a little thing in the Kent St. thread on the board if you want to look at it. I hope they put on a big 2H run... Maybe a 2H wager?
