the biggest irony?.....is that muslims living in israel have more freedom in countries like israel or the u.s. than they ever will in any minaret-ridden country...

QUOTE]

that simply proves your ignorance, in no way whatsoever is that true... muslims in israel do NOT have freedom, in fact many in the israeli government would deport them and continue to pass referendums to keep israel predominately jewish

Garden, you don't know what you are talking about at all.

Israel could take out the entire middle east if they wanted. Their military is by far stronger. In fact, if the entire region went to war simultaneously with israel, israel would probably win.

and they haven`t...despite provocations up the ying yang.....i recall "good guy" saddam lobbing scuds into israel when he was run out of kuwait(luckily he didn`t have nuclear weapons...thanks to da` joos,btw...they`re pretty clever that way).......

israel did nothing to provoke those bombings....saddam was just trying to start a full scale arab/israeli conflict.....and israel held their water....

thanks for making that point,kemosabe....

glad we can have a civil discussion...i appreciate that...

Short elaboration.... Mr Weasel...

Short elaboration.... Mr Weasel...

For a state to claim a Democratic form of government, it must accept the equality of all residents within its borders as legitimate citizens regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, religion, political belief, or gender.
For a state to claim it is Democratic and reserve the rights of citizenship to a select group negates its claim. It is an oxymoron to limit citizenship rights to Jews alone and call the state Democratic.
A democracy that is only to be for a certain group of people cannot exist, for the elementary reason that the modern democratic state is defined by its claims of universality." Yet this inherent contradiction exists in Israel.

And thats all i'm gonna say.......

you`re comparing israel,to say,muslim countries.....who`s non-islamic inhabitants(if there are any)pay back breaking jizyeh(extra tax and tribute) because they aren`t muslims?....

and yes...arabs are citizens of israel..last time i checked,16 % of israel`s population was muslim.....but,i believe they aren` t allowed to serve in the military(i wonder why?...lol)...

there also are arab members of knesset, israel's parliament......

pretty fair considering everyone wants them annihilated...

hope that clarifies things a bit...

Come on Weas.................

Come on Weas.................

Re Read my comment..........I am saying it is not a Democracy by what the definition of being a Democracy is. I did not mention any other country !!!!!
In a Democracy you cannot bulldoze a private residence with out a court document......In Israel u get a Caterpillar tractor specifically designed for the purpose and have the military do it.
US Army bulldozing any homes in your neck of the woods Weas ?????

they also abandoned their own homes and forcibly relocated their own citizens to try and come to some accomodation with their violent neighbors...

but it`s a useless gesture....

.considering that their neighbors` charter(constitution, whatever you want to call it),calls for their destruction....tough to negotiate with these folks,i`d say...

self preservation is a pretty solid motivational tool......

Most informed people have known this since Israel was established....

http://palestinefreevoice.blogspot.com/2008/06/haaretz-publisher-israeli-citizenship.html

"The publisher of Haaretz, Amos Schocken make today a moral statement in an editorial with the headline "Citizenship law make Israel an apartheid state.

It is amazing and somewhat peculiar how a Jewish publisher today display the revelation of a truth, known to rest of the world for over six decades, from the very erection of a state named Israel, built for Jews only.Schocken is a Zionist, can a Zionist also be a humanist, sensitive to justice, moral and compassion ?

Amos Schocken admits in his editorial what the Palestinians have experienced during the six past decades, - that Israel operating on the occupied Palestinian territories, acts as an apartheid state, that Israeli has institutionalized and legalized discrimination, build on race and religion."

c`mon....are there self-hating jews?...of course.....are there self-hating americans on this very site....posting american casualty counts at every opportunity?....you betcha......

16% muslims in israel....members of knesset.....

that`s fact....not the usual gibberish about "occupied territories"....and no matter how much territory israel gives up,it won`t be enough until they`re pushed into the sea....

that`s a fact...

the palestinian gov`t doesn`t recognize israel.....or their right to exist....period...they bomb their markets...fire rockets into their suburbs.....

that`s a fact...

it would be a suicide pact for israel to open their borders to people that want to kill them...

you`re being silly posting palestinian propaganda website info as though it`s written in stone......

Israel has no right to exist. It was a land grab. And that is a fact.

By that logic, the US doesn't have a right to exist either.

I think there are plenty of problems with Israel and certainly with our hypocritical Middle East relationships. However, Palestine multiplies their own problems with a complete lack of compromise. Other Arab countries use Palestine as a phony rally as well, only instigating more problems.

Plenty of fault on all sides. If there was ever a "grey" issue, this is one. ....JMHO, TIA.:)

somewhere weasel said that a member of the knesset is an arab, non-jew. well, the book i mentioned multiple times does address that. turns out the guy was given the worst possible position in the knesset, bordering on worthless. it was all in the interest in being able to say there is an arab involved in israeli politics. fact of the matter is they are ready to expel most of hte arabs in israel through deportation. it's talked about all the time in their politics. all for the sake of keeping israel jewish. could you imagine united states senators saying they wanted to deport other faiths or races to keep the USA 85% white and christian? how bigoted would that be? israel lacks the liberty and regard for freedom that americans cherish
