This is really for conversation sake:in the NFL there is this angle where a team covers and goes over the total and scores more than 30 two weeks in a row the play is to go against them with the spread ,play the under or both in the third game. The theory is a that all the stuff that had to go right for them to do all that scoring evens out in subtle ways in the third game(sometimes 4th game. This theory is not to be applied to the great offensive teams of recent memory like the Warner/Faulk/Holt/Bruce/Hakim Rams for example. You never lnow how long they'll go without a clunker, but one will come, just don't bet when with those kinda teams.)Eventually even with the great teams, sideline passes are juggled, other critical passes droppped, turnovers in the red zone, great defensive plays at timely points in the game, inopportune penalties, guards stepping on the qbs foot on third and goal, fumbled snap from center,it all comes home to roost at one time it seems after an extended period of excellence offensively.Oklahoma ,being the first team to go 60+ 5 straight gamesto end the season has to be close to being in this position going into this game. They allegedly have had only one under all season. They are playing a defense that is faster and has better dbcks for sure than anything in the big 12.Fla gave up 20 to bama and 21 to Lsu.Is oklahoma better thru the O line than alabama and lsu?I see Florida really trying to make a point of holding bradford and okla to as few as they possibly can to make a point about who should have won the Heisman,so (please no fan reaction here,I am trying to handicap the game not insult any sooner lovers.I am not saying oklahomas o is shitty, just that I am gambling that this will not be their game and why!) I could envision Florida holding oklahoma to less than the 21.I understand what a feat this would be,they will need a great deal of dline speed to negate oklas offensive line,a very fine group.I projected floirda for 48,but they too have gone over a whole series of games in a row,I know because I bet 'em under in a couple of those games, stopped and watched with great interest as they went over twice more to close out the season with about 6 or 7 straight overs(now I'm not going back to check so I may be off by a game or so,but the number whatever it is is a LOT of overs in a row for Florida too!)So now we have two teams everybody knows are scoring out their every orifice,a million games in a row each, and the number is set lower than three other bowl games at just over 10 simple little touchdowns. If it is an over, why set the number for two such highpowered offenses so low?Seems fishy.Lastly,This game shares something in common with the last two, both of which were unders and that is all these last six teams were involved in very high scoing overs in last years bowl season, the sooners got the pat white treament as wvu routed the sooners and went over last year, florida got the retiring coach rout put on 'em by michigan and bo schembechler err lloyd carr as they upset florida and went over the total as well. All these over streaks on both sides of the field, last years losses with both d's playing poorly led me to the conclusion days ago that the under was the unlikely sounding play for the total in this game,so I've got it parlayed with florida-3- in one card at under 72-having hit the under in the mon and tues games as the other legs of the 4 teamer.Got florida-3- as the 4th wheel in a second 4 teamer(under38 Baltimore/Mia NFL,Ohio st+9-,Tulsa-1-.)Hopefully,like tulsa Tuesday night the side in this game was too easy too handicap, explaining the florida landslide of action.Seems their defense is the better of the two, their o vs oklas d is where they appear to hold an advantage.Call it the revenge of Tebow. We'll see soon.GL to all handicappers

I have to add this:the reason the big 12 qbs enjoy such surreal numbers are the defensive backs from that conference. They are awful, its like watching the MAC.Unless the qb is sacked or the pass is somehow errant it will be complete. The dback will not interfere with the flight of the ball,he may interfere with the receiver,he will jump too early, too late, not at all,he'll fall down,he'll have the ball whistle through his waving arms and into the receivers chest.Once the catch is made,he'll rarely make the tackle right away.theres always yak.4 qbs with the numbers Mccoy,Bradshaw,Missouri boy,and Harrell have all in one conference?Somethings wrong with that conferences' defenses and in the big 12 it is the corner and safety play coverage wise.I'll be very curious to see how many of those four make it to a long and fruitful carreer in the NFL.I'm guessing maybe one.

It would be awesome if they invented something to separate a lot of sentences from one another so they dont run on forever and you can read wtf someone is saying.

It would look something like this. I hope it catches on

Fine analysis. Interesting points made regarding regression to the mean. Thanks.

Let's talk regression to the mean. So far this bowl season, 7 games have closed with totals between 66 and 75 1/2:

Air Force & Houston = 66
Texas Tech & Ole Miss = 66
Missouri & Northwestern = 67
CMU & FAU = 70
Testicle State & Tulsa = 70 1/2
WMU & Rice = 74
Oregon & Oklahoma State = 75 1/2

These were the 7 highest totals of the bowl season. Every game went under the closing total except Texas Tech & Ole Miss. We are due for an over Ludes, and Florida & Oklahoma are the two teams to get it done. Good luck!

If the Big 12 Qb solely put up huge numbers cause the Big 12 DBs suck....

How the heck did Colt McCoy throw for 413 yards on one of the top D's in the country, one with a no doubt about it top CB that is a high 1st rounder in Jenkins.

Also why have there been so my Big 12 DBs in the NFL. There are 7 alone from UT recently currently playing in the NFL. This Big 12 offense thing is not something that only started this year.

Good Luck Wise. You are a guy who WORKS at your handicapping and your results speak for themselves.Since youre probably getting 69- for your over and my under is a point over the opener of 71-,i'm hoping for a 70,71 or 72 so we both get a W.Florida-3- also would make a great day for me,florida and the under72- would double the payout. So I pick up the paper this morning, its 18 below zero our yearly 2 week cold snap, and what do I read, that Florida's defense is "calling out" Oklahoma's defense, telling them in no uncertain terms that they suck. That combined with Tebows comment about wishing he could play against Big 12 defenses makes one thing certain:the oklahoma defense is going to be inspired and offended. It would be an absolute shock to all be even their most ardent athletic supporters(fans) if Oklahoma's defense won the game for them.not the vaunted offense.Florida's offense better be extra ready, they are going to have to earn every yard of it.It'll be really fun to watch it pan out.

Not disagreeing with you, but perhaps because McCoy threw the ball 59 times completing 41 of them, not an overly high yard per completion which is exactly what OSU tried to do and reason why they had a chance to win in the end. Just my opinion.

That is what UT has done all season. Short, high % passes.

Why wouldnt OSU attempt to defend what UT has done all season. They are not a big downfield passing team. OSU surely knew that & prepared for it.

Cosby has 172 yards & I dont recall one pass being caught more than 15-20 yards down the field for him.

Does it matter how you get the yardage? Yards are yards be it on a 5 yard pass or a 50 yards pass.

My point is dont make a stupid blanket statement like BIG 12 DBs are the only reason the BIG has great passing attacks. OSU's DBs didnt stop the yards from being racked up & I sure they get respect.

Plus the fact that there are quite a few NFL DBs from the Big 12 in the past 5 years should say something about the talent level there....

UNFORTUANTELY, BEING INSPIRED AND OFFENDED DOESN'T INCREASE YOUR TALENT LEVEL. YOUR IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME........IF YOU NEED SOMEONE TO FIRE YOU UP.......SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH YOU ALREADY. MY 2 CENTS IS ALL.

Total comes down to whether Florida can get any pressure on Bradford.

100% Correct... I can tell you firsthand all that stuff means nothing when they kickoff.
