And Navy looks like a bad I-AA school. They can play a half and then just fold in the second half. They are in for one really bad season. They have Notre Dame, Cincy and UCF next. Can not see them coming close, let alone winning, any of these games. Maybe a win against Tulsa or Tulane, but that is about it. They are just not a very good team. Was simply wrong about them this year.

However, I end up covering the game because Major Applewhite is a total douche bad and throws the ball rather than kneeling to end the game. What an ass.

Another however, is that I end up losing a very large parlay because Navy went for 2 on the two TDs and did not get it. Crazy freaking ending to this one from a betting perspective.

The UCF coach can kiss my fat italian ass. You want to bench your starting QB, fine, but make sure everyone knows he is not playing. You can not tell me he made this decision right before the game started. Seriously, now that sports gambling is legal in many states, this should not be allowed. This is total bullshit and going to cost me a lot of money. I hope he plays this loser second teamer the whole game and loses this game and any chance he had at being in the playoff. This really pisses me off!!!

I do not get mad much gambling anymore but this UCF game has pissed me off more than I have been in 20 years. And now to top it off my sites are not offering in-game betting at all because they know the game is fucked. Of course I am not getting my bets back though. I do not mind losing, it is part of the game, but never having a chance to win bothers the hell out of me. This game had no chance ever to go over without their starting QB let alone with this train wreck of a back-up playing now. Not that it matters at all, but the sports information office at UCF is getting one hell of an earful from me. Totally ruined my night.

Not much time this week, big festival here at the beach this weekend so will try to get to MD and Navy tomorrow, but I like one tonight:

Georgia Southern +10.5 -120

Love this situation. App. State just ranked now goes on the road against a solid Georgia Southern team who's only loss is to Clemson. I will take these points all day long and maybe open up a small money line parlay.

Always nice English when they work out the way you think. Was a great situational bet. Hope you opened up a ML par or two!

As you can tell, I am not a fan of Matt Canada and what he has done with this Maryland offense, let alone him being an interim head coach. This is an offense that has gotten progressively worse every week. I can sit on the couch and call out most of the plays, so you know other teams know what is coming. He refuses to use his two great RBs, instead he is obsessed with passing the ball and running jet sweeps. Watch the defenses, none of them react to all the motion. They know it is meaningless. All it does is create offsides penalties. As such,

Illinois +18

I know Illinois is not very good, but I simply have no confidence in the Maryland offense unless they change their approach and I do not see that coming.

On a side note, this ridiculous investigation is still leaning towards keeping Durkin in my opinion. They do not want to pay him and then have to hire another coach. Who is going to take that job? No experienced coach or top program assistant will take it. If they keep Canada I think there will be a revolution as the boosters are not fans.

As far a Navy is concerned, that are completely outmatched at every position in this game. On paper this should be a complete blowout and 24 does not look like a bad number. If Notre Dame comes to play every down they should win by 40. However, I am not sure this will happen as no one really likes blowing out the Academies. Navy will be up for the game and they never quit, but they are simply out gunned here. I think the way to play is:

Navy Ov 52 -125

Bought it down to 52 because I think it is a good number if Navy can get at least 14 which I think they can get to especially if ND gets up big.

Both MD and Navy plays are small as both teams have been disappointing.

Playing this 3-team 7 point tease I like:

Iowa State +2 - line is really moving
Missouri Pk - do not understand this line so I am in
Houston Pk - think they are the better team

I need Ok St to win outright for a really big payout with Ga Southern and Toledo MLs last night.

I think Florida and Washington St. are other dogs worth taking a look at.

Well we finally got some clarity from the Maryland Board of Regents and it is more or less in line with what I have been saying all along: Durkin stays. Many people disagreed with me on this, but there were many on the Board that were adamant that this happen. A lot of it had to do with ESPN blowing this up like it was the biggest deal in college football. Many influential members were very pissed off about how it was handled and was not going to let Durkin take the fall due to ESPN reporting. We are going to find out a lot about Coach Durkin and the state of Maryland football in the coming weeks. ESPN is already reporting that players walked out of the initial meeting, but I really do not believe much of what I read from them anymore as real reporting is not really what they do anymore. I will try to gather some information in the coming days to see how the players are reacting.

Well it didn't last long (funny, I was in the middle of writing a piece that he was going to get fired soon after the reaction, I go to dinner with my parents, come back and he's fired). The University had to give in to the public pressure. Simply too many people bitching and moaning for them to ignore. I will keep my personal opinions of the firing to myself, but this whole thing has been a complete fucking mess. The whole process, etc. has been a disgrace in my opinion.

I now think we will see a huge effort from Maryland this weekend as this was the popular choice amongst the players. Maybe the students will even show up for the game this week. From a betting perspective right now, it looks like Maryland or nothing to me especially sine Michigan State is challenged on offense.

I will reserve another time to discuss the state of Maryland football.

I think so. As long as Canada does not screw it up on offense, I think they will shut Michigan State down on defense and do enough on offense to win the game. The players are very happy about the decision to fire Durkin so I am expecting an inspired effort and some support from the student body (a win also gets them bowl eligible which is big since they are on the road next week and have Penn St and Ohio State to finish):

Maryland +120

I do not think the points will matter in this one so happy to take the plus money.

I waited on the Navy line but there has not been much movement,

Navy +14 -125

Cincy does not have a very explosive type offense that usually kills Navy. Navy will be able to move the ball and should be able to stay in this one, so I like the points.

A couple more I like today:

Nebraska/Ohio St Ov 74 - not sure they can set this line high enough. Ohio State may score in the 60's.

Va Tech +120 - I will take them as a dog at home all day long against BC especially after their big win.

Texas Tech +14 -120 - I simply do not believe in Oklahoma. Their defense is not very good and I think they are overrated overall, so I will gladly take 2 TDs with the home team in prime time.

Played two team totals

Nebraska Ov 46
Memphis Ov 37.5

Think both teams put 50 on the board against bad defenses today.

I finally had a Saturday where I could relax and watch some games. Boy was I completely disappointed. Not only with my picks, but with the games. Game after game had horrible targeting calls. Refs are just throwing a flag every time they see a head move back. Most got overturned, but it totally disrupts the pace of play. The Oklahoma game had to be one of the worst called games I have ever seen. They made so many bad calls in that game. That whole crew should be suspended. There were many, many others but I do not remember seeing so many mistakes by the officials.

I am not even going to bother ranting about MD and Navy. Nothing changes about my thoughts on Canada and his offense. Navy put in the worst performance I may have ever seen from them. I am not sure if Navy has ever fired a coach, but it is time for him to go. There is a reason BYU rejected him, he is not a Division I coach. I know the Naval Academy is not supposed to emphasize sports but they can do much better than him. I could write pages about these two this weekend, but I will save you all.

While the Tx Tech game (they would have won if Bowman played the second half as Oklahoma's defense is a total joke) save my ass last night I am done until the championships/bowls. That is how depressing yesterday was. I will focus on what I do best (soccer) and build a bank roll for the bowls!

Happy to offer any opinions if anyone cares, just ask.

I am not sure how Michigan does not drop 50 on Rutgers today. They are terrible. I know I said I would stay away the next few weeks, but I am playing Michigan Ov 47 for the game and Ov whatever the TT is. They still need to be concerned with some style points and even if all they do is run the ball I do not think Rutgers can stop them. Hell, they gave up 55 to a bad Kansas team, 52 to Ohio State who benched everyone in the middle of the 3rd quarter and 42 at home to Buffalo!

Also have to consider a FH play at -22.5.

There is always a chance that Michigan just goes through the motions but Ohio State is still a couple weeks away so I think they will stick it to Rutgers early.

Think Maryland wins today? Do not follow either team closely but I believe if Maryland coach has them focused the Terp defense is better.

It is a tough one Lowell. I think it really depends on how bad they want to go to a bowl or if they want their season to simply end. I know that may not sound that great, but I think it is true. I think there are some in the camp that they want the season to end and others that want to prove everyone wrong. A couple lesser players already left the team this week, but neither were starters. In the beginning of the week, I thought they were done but I hear the week of practice was positive.

Indiana is a lot like the teams Maryland has beaten this year: average offenses and a defense they can run against (they get a lot of yards on offense but are not explosive, they give up 165 yards a game on the ground and almost 30 points a game). Maryland gets dominated by very good defenses, but do well against teams with average or lesser defenses. If they can move the ball (and not turn it over) they will win this game. Indiana is not a very good offensive team and Maryland's defense has been good all year (their offense has just put them is so many bad positions this year). Each has won at home in a high scoring game the last two years.

I think this will be a very close game that Maryland can win, but Hill will likely have to step up and make some plays on offense for them to win. Maryland has not had a close game since its opening win against Texas.

If I had to make a selection, I would take Maryland in a 30-27 type game.
