Pride is the paramount consideration in this case concerning Toronto; as badly as they've tripped over themselves this season, do they have enough pride in themselves as paid professionals to even out payback?

What you have here is a team of Jack Haleys...If you don't follow, he was the tin man in the wizard of oz. this team has no heart.

Now watch 'em make me eat my words...but i wouldn't bet on it...more like fade it.

No, concur w/ you as well Ax - and more often than not, I would fade the Raptors in pretty much every single game. Am interested in seeing what transpires tomorrow though to see if it fits the pattern that I've described or continues the seemingly inevitable moribund/comatose string of losses the Raptors have become renown for this season. I may place a VERY small wager just to maintain more than a passing interest.

You really subscribe to 'A Clockwork Orange' being Kubrick's best? Personally been partial to '56's 'The Killing' myself...

Well, Roy and Outlaw combine for 41 in regulation to keep it close and it now results in a 5 minute game essentially...

Gonna have to examine that Memphis/New Orleans game a little more to get a better inkling concerning the total; first impression is that it looks promising.

Other stream-of-consciousness musings:

Utah got steamrolled 114-93 when last in Oklahoma CIty; got their revenge when the Thunder visited Salt Lake (110-90). Jazz still playing for playoff seeding whereas Thunder just playing to get better. Jazz somewhat abysmal on the road. If line climbs higher than 5 for the Jazz (probably won't), tempted to run w/ the Thunder.

Wizards best hope for a victory was @ the Clippers; now in Denver to face a schizophrenic Nuggets squad that tends to play down to its competition. Likely a NO PLAY.

An aside on the Lakers - a capper I hold in high esteem elsewhere mentioned that Los Angeles, when they beat up an opponent, tends to start slowly - it's when they come out guns blazing that they fade. Interesting to see that they're already down 17-11 in the 1st; will wait and see if this again plays out as he's articulated.

Possible 2H play on LAL ETZ?

I think there may very well be a possibility in that depending on how the 2nd quarter unfolds...

I'm in the 5 year window just behind you Ax (if the age bracket you selected in Covers is still valid); so yeah, older - and that's why the signal to noise ratio there was growing old QUICKLY...

Wow, didn't realize that a big game for Roy would involve 15 points by 3 minutes gone in the 4th although a 6 point deficit isn't insurmountable...

Raptors line of - 1 as a side looks suspect - they've had since Monday to stew over their 112-86 beatdown; this strangely looks similar to when the Raptors went to New York, got blindsided and came back 2 days later to wax the Knicks... The cliched phrase of forgetting a bad loss b/c there's a next game doesn't really hold any weight here b/c of the 4 day layoff. Would anticipate that public jumps on the Bobcats as an 'easy' cover given their lopsided victory over the Raptors on Monday as well as another win going away versus Sacramento in b/w. Pride is the paramount consideration in this case concerning Toronto; as badly as they've tripped over themselves this season, do they have enough pride in themselves as paid professionals to even out payback?

Will take a look at the other lines for both sides and totals shortly.

This diffinitely doesn't smell right. I think you might see a reverse line movement once the public pounds NO, but I think Tor is the correct side, must keep a close eye.

Yes sir, tboss is also around my age. I completely understand where you are coming from. There are some youngsters there that are respectful and willing to learn but far too many think picking winners is a given. That last thread I ran, I remember the comment very well, a monkey could do as well as Ax, in so many words. LOL Pnp was quick on the reply along with like 100 people. But the human psyche is strange. Even with all the support, I only focused on that single comment.

Man, you're gonna need to sell me on this one pal. Love to hear it!!!

Too bad I'm leaving AX i would love to see the % public # on this game. Remember the other night when Bost/ Chi played Bost was a 1.5 pt favored that night and was watching the public pound Bost and the line kept coming down and Chi didn't even need the points, they won outright. I'm not saying for sure that Tor will win but this line doesn't make sense. It's begging for public NO money and that is what Vegas wants you to think. Too bad I'm not hear to see what happens tomorrow.

Lines are up for the 2nd half Ax -

114.5 for the total
8 in favor of the Lakers

Been watching the game sporadically; Lakers don't seem to be coasting as they usually do (sloppy play), but there isn't much separation at present. Have a gut feeling that this game will go under - just not sure about the total for the half; am more confident about the side, to be frank.

As for the comments you're referring to, it was disrespectful - far too easy to type anything on a keyboard w/o any forethought whatsoever...

It's funny Ax - what attracted me to your posts was your description of looking for value in a shopping aisle - reminded me of Warren Buffett's mentor Benjamin Graham - i.e. 'father of value investing' - everyone knows the adage of buy low, sell high - but most don't act on it b/c of the herd mentality. If you or anyone believes in future prosperity once more (even if it's not as spendthrift as it has been), property and good company equities that have been hit in a general overall (non-discriminatory) wave will still be good value when the tide finally goes out - you'll know who's really naked or not then (to paraphrase Buffett)...

Ax -

I may just sit and watch how the 2nd half plays out; went to the window already w/ the U in the Dallas/ATL game, Maryland and Washington in the NC 2 As (w/ Western Kentucky pending)...

Don't know if you've sated your ACTION JUNKIE indulgence for the evening though :grins:

Wow, I completely agree, My girl and I are finding bargain basement prices on solid companies. The value is out there. Some companies are just caught up in this mess much like those homeowners without the mortgage issues. We can't help stinking when we are all in deep sh1t. We may not even be the ones that released all this crap but we're buried in it just like everyone else.

If you have the money, it's a good time to go shopping.
