Toronto gased out on us, good call to whomever predicted the letdown on that one.
The major concern for the Raptors really stems from the point - overly cautious (which is responsible for his much ballyhooed assist to turnover ratio), lacking lateral quicks, and unable to accelerate the tempo of the game, Calderon looks less and less a first team guard and more of a liability.
Mike Conley Jr. literally toyed w/ him much of the game going downhill on Calderon, forcing his teammates to help out, leaving their own man open for boards, etc. Then switched over to Mayo to limit the Grizzlies from further exploitating his deficiencies, but Mayo took advantage of the height difference to spring 2 3 pointers late in the game, killing off any Raptor rallies.
Supposedly recovered from his hamstring issues from last season, the problem now is possibly that he's just not good enough.
When Calderon comes up against speedy points, look for the opposition to have more than a fighting chance. When confronted w/ bullish points like Deron Williams and Jason Kidd, he gets abused physically. Doesn't leave much else on the table as redeeming strengths.
