why bother playing this game? after last night, is there any doubt that arkansas state is the true national champs?
i'll try to add a few things to the discussion that haven't been brought up yet.
there's a lot of talk that fsu hasn't really been tested on the ground. hogwash. they have been tested and they failed miserably. bethune-cookman ran for 182 yards against this vaunted fsu defense. granted, fsu won that game 54-6, but that's missing the point.
fsu has not lost a single game in california this year.
auburn has not won a single game in california this year.
ok, I think that covers it. everything else has been discussed ad nauseam.
fsu (-10.5) 2 units. this line, combined with the line movement, says it all. the difference is defense. auburn's is terrible. defense wins championships.
the real question for me - when fsu gets out to a big lead, will auburn continue to run the ball? I think they have to, because that gives them their best chance. but it will be interesting to see when/if they finally abandon the run.
fsu 54-6, but auburn runs for 181 yards. no way do they put up bethune-cookman numbers.
*one interesting note from the bethune-cookman/fsu game... the wildcats had a 12-minute edge in ToP.
