Will win the big 12 title next year. Bank on it. I'm going to start looking for futures plays the first chance I get.

Anybody agree? What about disagree?

As a Nebraska fan I'm pretty anxious for next season to come around. The defense will be really good again, even without Suh. They have a lot returning and enough seasoned and talented guys to step in for the few seniors departing on D. On O they return basically everyone, but need better execution and play-calling, similar to what was seen in the bowl game.

Their schedule is somewhat favorable. Okie St and Texas will be down a bit from where they were this year. The road trips to Manhattan and College Station worry me.

I doubt you will find any futures on a conference championship until mid-summer at earliest.

Missouri and Kansas State will be much improved. I know Misery goes to Lincoln, but K-State has their stud RB, Thomas, back and if they find a QB, watch out with Snyder on the sidelines.

Oklahoma could be very stacked and would be tough to bet against winning the Big 12 IMHO. I would make sure Bradford goes pro before placing your wager.

Huskers are one of my favorite teams, but until they get a QB that is actually a threat to pass they will continue to win 8 or 9 games a year. Bo will always have a great defense, but with no threat at QB its going to be tough to win on the road against Washington, OKST, KST and TEXAM. They really have no QB on the roster right now, as Lee is not the answer and Green is a athlete playing QB.

Zac Lee played the better part of 09 with a torn tendon, hence why he really sucked at times.

Helu played with 1 shoulder all year.

The OL was the walking wounded.

Hopefully Lee will be back for spring after his surgery but that is iffy. Good thing is Spano, Washington, and Green will all get quality reps. Believe it or not Spano may have been the best QB they had until he tore his ACL. That said, Lee played hard injured most of the year, even though the results were at times crappy.

Carl Pelini has proved he is one of the top DC's in the game, and even though they lose Suh, they may have one of the best secondary's in the country next season and the LB play will be stellar. They have some young horses on the DL coming back and will be very good.

You will see more power attack next year and a much more efficient power game. Niles Paul has blossomed into a great WR and Khiry Cooper is part of the future. Mike Mc Neil at TE is the secret weapon.

KSU does not have the defense and will need to find a QB next year. Their recruiting under the Manatee (Ron Prince) was simply an abortion. HCBC will go the JUCO route to stop some of the bleeding but that will only work for so long. With Iowa St, Mizzou, and Kansas all improved, KSU will really struggle. I would not be the least bit surprised if Mike Leach ended up at Colorado after Hawkins stinks it up again this year. I am surprised b/c I thought he would excel there.

Mizzou is softer than Rosie O'Donnell's ass. Their shameful performance against Navy tells me that it is back to the 'ol times' enjoy your 2 years of fun Mizzou cockbags because you guys are going back where you belong: The shitter.

I am 99.9% certain Sam Bradford declared for the NFL draft. Landry Jones played well at times under the circumstances. Losing De Marco Murray may not be a bad thing for them. They may have to retool their DL as 3/4 of starters may be in NFL next year but I know they reload. However Big Game Bobby is losing his luster in big games.

If Texas wants to stay elite they better develop more of a running game. Garret Gilbert looks like he will be a good one. They lose a lot of their OL and play some tough road games, so a 2-3 loss season would not surprise me.

As long as Mike Sherman is coaching at aTm Nebraska has nothing to worry about.

LB play is the ? in my mind. Dillard will be missed more than expected imo. Will be interesting to see if the young guys and Lavonte can step up.

Nice way to finish the season and fired up for next year! QB is definitely the key to how far the huskers go and one step further in the big 12 championship game would see a sweet return to the top portion of Div 1 football. Love those blackshirts!!:toast:

Mr. Poon:

Dillard is no doubt a huge loss, but they have some young horses there. Losing Matt May hurt big time and this kid is the real deal, just dont' know where he will play yet but he can light it up.

Another year in the Pelini's system makes all of those kids better and 1 year further from being DeCosgrovised.

Big things are expected out of Lavonte David, so hope he makes it in for spring and he gets a feel for the D. Big things are expected of Chris Williams if he is still around, he absolutely killed people in HS.

Thunder--Their division super sucks.

Hard to argue with that. When Kansas St. competes for the division title yet doesn't go to a bowl, there are issues. Those issues aren't going to be improved upon much next season.

Colorado has lame-duck Hawkins for another year, it will likely take a couple years to get Kansas going for Gill, Iowa St. does well for their talent level but their talent is lacking nonetheless. Mizzou seems similar to Kansas State of the 90's, looks great on paper and will pile up the wins but lacks the punch/execution to have a major impact.

Nebraska this year (and next year on paper) is a top 15 team, but everyone knows there is quite a bit that separates the 'teens' to the real teams in college football.

Would not be surprised to hear the talk of doing away with the two divisions in the conference pick up even more. Doubt anything will occur for a couple years at least, but everyone knows the power players of the conference are in the south. It is going to get to a point where they will want to allow a rematch of 2 teams from the south for the conference championship.

Nebraska talks abut how much they have come back but just don't see it to compete with the big boys like they use to? CU's program is in total disarray.

I think if you look at NU's performance vs. top level teams the last 2 years, the effects of the Callafuk and Cosgrove era are wearing off.

They are competing, developing players, and getting confidence back. They were 1 play away from beating a good VT team on the road, beat OU, 1 play away from beating TX. Granted the ISU game was unthinkable and TT beat them soundly, they are learning how to win again and on their way back.

Are they mid-90's good again? Far from it. Will they ever be that good again? Doubtful. That said, their physicality is coming back and teams will remember playing Nebraska again.

The Big 12 north is awful.

There is talk of Mizzou leaving the Big 12. Don't know how serious it is. The Big 12 was the best thing that could have ever happened to OU and TX and has hurt NU for sure. However, I think they are in good hands under Pelini.

I would be sort of surprised if Mizzou pulled out of the Big 12 for the Big 10, since what would they really be gaining? I think the Big 10 right now is going to gauge Notre Dames interest in a behind the scenes manner, and if ND has no interest then I think they add either Cuse or Rutgers

As a lover of college football, I am very excited to see Nebraska get back to their tradition of great defense. If they can get any help from the QB position, they will instantly be a threat to beat anyone in the country.

If the Huskers could get a solid 21 ppg from their offense, it will make them a contender. Love the fact that Snyder should help K St, Baylor was better and would have shocked a few if QB didn't go down, and Gundy seems to have Okie St playing good.

I think all these will help the Big 12 and get it back to being one of the toughest conferences from top to bottom. I guess the big?s are can Turner Gill win at Kansas like he did for a cpl years at Buffalo, will Mizzou start to decline, and my biggest ?

Why can't Colorado get better? Would have thought that Hawkins coming from Boise would have made them better, but he has sucked IMO

MC, I thought the same thing and then I saw these numbers and it answered my question very quickly.

Big Ten.....$242 million per year
SEC.........$204 million
Big 12......$78 million
ACC.........$67 million
PAC 10......$58 million
Big East....$33 million

That's the conference annual TV revenues. Also the Big Ten shares the money equally. The Big 12 shares half equally and then distributes the rest based on how much each school was on tv. What I've said may not be exact but it's close to it and that is why they would be willing to leave.
