Starting a small BBQ catering gig and need some naming ideas. Was also wondering on the off chance this thing makes it bigger than we intend, what are the laws on having the same name as another business, and how do you tell if you have an original. Anyway I thought of "Butt Ugly BBQ" and already had the shirt design in my head, but a quick google search showed me someone else had already had my exact idea. Help a brotha out. Thanks in advance

You must register your business in the county you live in. They do a search to see if it's taken.
I would also strongly suggest incorporating a food service business. Without incorporating, you are exposing yourself to a lawsuit that could take your home away if someone becomes ill or worse.

Do they just check my county, state, or nation? What kind of fees go into incorporating?

Check out your Secretary of State's website and search business names there.

So I only have to worry about my state, if I have the same as someone in another state I am fine:shrug:

Awsome design and I like the idea, but not sure the churches and schools we will be working with would find it as ammusing as the madjack community. When I we decide on something and if you dont mind I definitely want you to help with a design as I have seen the great work you can do with those types of things.

There may not be more than one corporation PER NAME, PER STATE.

So....If say, Badass BBQ is not incorporated in your state, you can use that name. Once you incorporate, you can add DBA'S as well.

Say you and your business partner form the UGA-Handsome- Dan Bulldog BBQ corp. you can DBA (do business as) BadAss BBQ
