There needs to be a new 15 yd penalty in the NFL and that if for intentionally ripping at the ball trying to force a fumble.

In the last game with San Fran Vs Saints it was just not tolerable for me to watch that on every fawking play.

Its one thing if a fumble is created by a hard hit. But its not the same thing when the players have now learned they can do whatever the fawk they want to get the ball out.

Its affecting the games outcomes.

Its not right.

Something has to be done .

I have no problem with the refs making a judgement call anytime they think intentional ripping is being done on the field.

nope I am sick of it.

Its not football anymore when they are allowed to do that on every play.

when it starts affecting the outcome of games

its over

you dont see this thug shit in college football.

Its just the NFL muggers.

its a mentality of do the easy thing. Hit the ball on every play. Dont worry about tackling anymore.

We are beyond good tackles.

Hit the fawking ball out of the guys arm.

Some guys are stronger than others and it only takes a touch. Ravens WR comes to mind in the end zone. Dude had his arm around the ball instead of even trying to tackle . Affected outcome of the game.

Jack sorry about your team going out.

Alot of things went into that .

I was wondering if you heard that fawking announcer on the field goal try.

Just before the kick that beech has to say

Cundiff has made 16 of 16 field goals in the fourth quarter.

As soon as the bastid said that I could have turned that TV off as the Ravens were doomed.

Why couldnt he have just let that go.

I think he did it on purpose.

The Rat Bastid !

I heard that. Everything happened so fast. I was still pissed that we were going to OT because we didn't get the TD and now I see we don't even get OT

yeh but that dont make it right.

This is changing the way NFL football games are
decided.

Try to catch a guy from behind. You dont tackle him anymore like we have for 50 years.

Instead you run up behind him and slam at the ball trying to knock it out before he scores.

wtf

pity really

Scott, that makes about as much sense as outlawing steals in basketball, or stolen bases in baseball. The game that exists in your head is not the one that exists in reality.

The objective of the game is not "to effectively tackle" - it is to score points and to do that you need the ball. Get it any way you can without breaking any of the rules. Secure the tackle, then go for the strip. They teach that at every level of football. Do you also want it to be illegal to go for an INT instead of just defending the receiver? You tackle because that is generally the best and most reliable way to get the ball back for your team as quickly as possible. If you can find a way to get the ball back even quicker, then so much the better. That type of behavior should be encouraged, not discouraged. Charles Tillman is an artist at punching the ball out of a runner's arms. There's a reason the Don Beebe/Leon Lett play is shown more than any other play from that Super Bowl.

You combat going for the strip instead of tackling by holding onto the ball, breaking the arm-tackle, and running for a TD and making the defender look stupid. Ray Rice, Frank Gore, and Steven Jackson all fumble the ball less than once every 150 touches. Other guys like Foster and MJD are closer to once every 50. Some guys just know how to hold onto the ball and some don't.

So let me get this straight. You think that the solution is to call a penalty on the defender rather than teaching a ball carrier that no matter where they are on the field they should always make ball security priority number 1? That would be a pity.

Again, Don Beebe/Leon Lett. That was Super Bowl 27; i.e. January 31, 1993; i.e. 19 years ago. This is not a new phenomenon.

While this is ridiculous, what I do hate is a combination of 2 things. I hate to see the refs not blow the whistle on forward progress and the ball carrier is just held up and eventually stripped. Bears lived off that for years when Lovie got there. Dennis Green would probably still be coaching.....ok that might be a stretch, but one of the biggest bullshit comebacks I've ever seen.

The other part of that is that most runners refuse to go down. I understand the toughness of it and you want that extra yard, but there are times when you are done and just need to protect the ball by going to the ground.

Actually, I love it.

Here's the thing - if you are an NFL player and fuckers are swiping at the ball in your hands every play.....so what? YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL!!!!!

It's the NFL not the FAGFL.

Of course. And a lot of times if you swipe and miss, you also might miss the tackle. Again, my problem comes in when guys are being held up and other guys stripping. Its fine when it happens quick, but if a guy is held up for a couple seconds...play is over, blow the whistle.

One other thing is trying to punch the ball out. That should be called. You aren't allowed to throw a punch so if you punch at the ball, whether successful or not, should be a 15-yarder. Might be tough to call, but if its blatant....

I want some old school NFL....the kind they played in the 1970s and 1980s. Every year it gets worse and every year the average idiot fan loves it more and more. They don't understand it but more points means it must be better, right?

What has totally ruined the game is instant replay and todays technology. With todays technology they can show the world in slow motion each and every questionable play... everyone oooo's and ahhhhh's and criticizes every detail. This wasn't the case back in the day when we had "real" football. I'm not saying leave the game solely to referee crew, but damn, everything about the game is questionable anymore.
Whats next? Instant replay on balls and strikes in baseball games?

I'd actually like to see balls and strikes called by the machine. The technology is there to do it.

I don't know what the answer is completely with NFL. A lot of things are getting too technical. A guy catches the ball and then goes to stand up after the play is over and its not a catch? Another guy has the ball touch the ground but it is a catch? But sometimes its not??

One rule I hate now is when a guy gets knocked backwards out of bounds....his forward progress was stopped so they run the clock. Its like, I get it....but come on. Guy is trying to get out of bounds to stop the clock and the defender bumps him so they keep the clock running.

To me, that's the same thing as if I'm holding a basketball on my palm and you knock it out of my hand. I guess technically, if done right, you hit it but it rolled off the side of my hand...so its out on me???

One other thing while I'm ranting. Again I get it....when they review all touchdowns. But is that really fair? They don't review a guy getting called down at the 1-foot line when he really crossed the plane.

Not to mention the whole, letting plays go when you aren't sure of the call and then when a fumble is/isn't reviewable, etc. Sometimes I think having no replay is just as fair as having it. I want the calls to be right but I also want the most fair system....like I say, its tough...

Haha, why not go for the strip and try to cause fumble? If you make a nice hit on a Pussy offensive player, you get nailed for a 15 yard penalty for being to rough? It really is a joke. Why even take a chance? It's funny that kick returners, fullbacks, some tight ends and defensive players returning picks can get hit as hard as you can and thats ok. Just put flags on all the fags.

this is exactly what I am talking about.

So many times I have seen that punch from behind.

at least TD agrees on this part

It has gotten so bad that they are grabbing at the ball even in the piles, constantly trying to pull it out of the runners hands.

On the ground doing that. And ppl call that fair and right to do. Guy is down get up and play. They are trying to affect a outcome by the snatch and grab..
