There is no doubt that Goodell is covering up a conspiracy that would cause severe damage to the NFL's reputation. The team of the deacade cheated to get where they are today, and Goodell will fight like hell to cover up as much as possible.

I'm not a Patriots fan, but I think this is a ridiculously overblown story. Specter is wasting OUR money on this garbage. It's done, time to let it go. Don't think it takes anything away from NE's accomplishments. Hell, they just went 19-1 WITHOUT taping anyone. That proved enough for me.

I agree that congress has no business wasting tax dollars on this type of nonsense.

i agree with you on specter. govt has no business in any of this. but i disagree on this being overblown. if belichick is willing to cheat on taping, he'll cheat on something else. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if he's still taping. always enjoyed watching Brady and Pats play, but this pattern of behavior makes NE much less appealing.

also didn't like goodell destroying the evidence. that shows you the league is interested in problem management, not getting the facts out. have to believe the tapes helped NE in some significant way.

Spector should be impeached. The country has real problems and this puke is wasting our time trying to figure out if the Patriots cheated or not. Let the NFL and the sports press decide that. He should spend his time on the countries problems. What an idiot!

Not only that, I believe he is battling cancer again for the 2nd time. One would think he would reserve his energy for treatment and more pressing issues. It's not like he is a spring chicken anymore either.

I'm not much for politics, but at least SOMEONE is trying to get to the bottom of this dirty team and dirty league.

What other problems should he be looking into? Perhaps the Iraq war. Well, that would be a waste of time b/c whatever reason we are there, we won't get an honest answer and we aren't leaving.

I think if evidence is intentionally destroyed to cover up wrongdoing in a very significant part of great success in a multi-billion dollar industry that affects so many in this nation, then we should get to the bottom of it.

That said, I will agree that there's not much that can be done at this point. I think the last decade of NFL is very tainted and I don't respect the Pats at all, but they will always be recognized for those championships so what can you do.

I just despise hearing how cheating doesn't matter at the end of the day. I heard a guy from the Pats say that "we didn't have any cameras out there on the field", as if knowing so many plays in advance isn't a huge reason of their success.

The entire Patriot "dynasty" is nothing but a lie.

Tucker agrees with Walsh: Patriots practiced with IR players

Updated: May 23, 2008, 2:09 AM ET

Ross Tucker, a former offensive lineman who played for five teams in a seven-year NFL career, reiterated Thursday that he believes that New England used players on the injured reserve list in practices, which violates league rules.

Leave a journeyman to pick on the pats. This issue is so flogging a dead horse,a who shot bambi.

Get over it.Your not the the first one too blast the pats for "so called cheating"(3seconds).
Nothing thats said gonna chang what happened.
Whats done id done.

Know its time to learn from the mistakes that happened and move on.

People from this area have mixed views on this whole topic.Me myself could care less, was it right ?no it wasnt,no one got murdered here thou.

Were all human and make mistakes.Temtation is hard to control sometimes(yes doing something wrong is a temtation).

But knowing the rest of the country looks at us as cheaters, thats ok.The 3 SB flags are still hanging at the stadium when i attend games.(season ticket holder).

Believe what you will, but in my and many other eyes we dont care:shrug:

All-Pros calling them out too...ASTERISK wanted

All-Pros calling them out too...ASTERISK wanted

An angry Joey Porter thinks the Patriots cheated their way to championships and the NFL's destruction of Spygate tapes suggested the league had something to hide after conducting its investigation.

"They [the Patriots] cheated, there should be an asterisk. They cheated and they got caught," the All-Pro linebacker, who spent eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining Miami in free agency last season, said in an interview on "NFL Live."

"Why, if you have nothing to hide, would you destroy [the evidence]? That's how I've looked at it from the beginning. Why destroy something that doesn't have to be destroyed? Let everyone know what was on the tapes. Why would you destroy them so fast?"

The Spygate investigation began after the NFL confiscated tapes from a team employee who recorded the New York Jets' defensive signals in the 2007 season opener. Coach Bill Belichick was fined $500,000; the team was fined $250,000 and forced to forfeit its 2008 first-round draft choice.

Porter called Belichick's fine a "slap on the wrist didn't fit the crime."

Since former Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh met earlier this month with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to detail the team's illegal taping of opponents' coaching signals, Belichick has attempted to minimize Spygate's impact.

They [the Patriots] cheated, there should be an asterisk. They cheated and they got caught.
--Joey Porter
"They went from zero to 60 overnight and [Belichick] went from a good coach to a great great coach and he got caught cheating," Porter said on "NFL Live."

At a news conference on May 13, Goodell said: "I didn't accept Bill Belichick's explanation for what happened and I still don't to this day."

On May 16, Belichick told the CBS Evening News: "I made a mistake. I was wrong. I was wrong."

After meeting with Walsh, Goodell said of a further investigation: "I don't know where else I would turn, but I reserve the right to review new information if it comes up."

Walsh sent eight tapes to the league that show the Patriots recording the play-calling signals of five opponents in six games between 2000 and 2002, one of which was the 2002 AFC Championship Game that Porter's Steelers lost to New England 24-17.

"If you're to tell me that happened, there's no way I can look at it and feel like I didn't get cheated," Porter said.

Porter also said that NFL players he knows share similar sentiments about the Patriots concerning Spygate.

"Anybody I know that lost to them in big games, they're very upset about it," Porter said.

the pats may be cheaters, i hate their entire team, always have after the tuck game. however, i do not attribute all of their postseason success to knowing the other team's plays.....

you still have to execute, ie. their loss to indy a year ago in the playoffs - caldwell dropped a pass.

the giants beat the hell out of brady in the superbowl and they lost.

if mcnabb doesn't play like a dick in the 1st half the eagles win that SB. if they knew what was coming it sure didn't seem like it because owen's killed them, but mcnabb's bad to's in the red zone cost the game early.

possibly the win over st. louis, but i don't buy that either. go back and watch the game. f'g martz made no adjustments in the passing game until the 4th Q, and the pats only won that one by 3.

either way, specter is a dick and needs to figure out a way to spend tax dollars better. if he knows refs are cheating that is a different story.

all of these teams watch film on each other all of the time. if they steal signals during a walk through that is bs for sure. i just think that martz was too damn stubborn to make adj at 1/2 time in that game.jmo

It is amazing that people accept the cheating but its ok b/c those super bowl banners are still hanging. Or they say, its ok that they cheated because they won the games anyway.

The biggest thing right now, and probably forever, is that we don't know how much was done and how it compares to what everyone else does..

That said, if they did cheat and gain a consistent unfair advantage, which it seems they did....that is HUGE, especially in this day and age of so much parity.

Their entire fake dynasty has been made up of having "team guys" who weren't necessarily as talented athletically, but who were "smarter" than other teams.

It all adds up to what I've been screaming for years. Its almost as if they were like the high school kid cheating on a test but knowing better than to get "100"...so they made sure to lose a game here and there to make it all believable.

The NFL is complete garbage and the last decade is a joke. Its all meaningless.

Hang your fake banners because the 1985 and 1997 Pats AFC Championships are the only real titles you possess.

There is NOTHING.....NOTHING on this earth worse than a cheater.

I hope more than anything that people like Porter will take as many cheap shots as possible on Brady and company. It should be a league-wide campaign.

An agreement to deal with cheaters and frauds.

If I was a Patriot fan, I would be embarassed and ashamed. I mean, come on...anyone can win by cheating. My 8-year old nephew can beat me at many games. Why? Because he is a little brat and hates to lose...so he cheats.

Its despicable and at the same time laughable to see Pats fans so proud.

The funniest part though is "18-1". Why? Because after the cheating, they decided to prove that they could do it without cheating. Though who knows if they were still cheating or not.

And they got ever so close. Any other team and I would say that 18-1 was very successful and just a tough loss not to finish the season.

But, I swear, I think they made sure to lose games on purpose over the years, since they were cheating, not to appear "too perfect".

And to go unbeaten the whole season, rub it in team's faces, act so pompous, and then lose a game they could have easily won.

Go to hell Pats and go to hell Pats' fans. Every win you've had this decade is make-believe. You are a total FRAUD.

Pats fans remind me of islam...

The "prophet" Muhammed married a 6-year old girl and had sex with her when she was 9 years old. This is not something people have made up. It is in the main books of islam, which muslims believe to be 100% fact and perfect, never ever tampered with.

They simply have no problem with this fact and "know" that islam is "right". Mohammed had a reason for what he did.

So did Belicheat. One was a horny pedophile, the other was a loser who wanted to win. But apparently, neither is politically correct.

"Heaven" forbid letting facts get in the way of people's "beliefs".

And how about Wes Welker's latest answers...

Something about how the Pats motto is that "everyone answers for themselves" and pretty much just kept saying it over and over that everyone answers for themselves and they have talked about it and if anyone wants to know anything else, they have moved on.

Wow. All I heard was, "we are cheaters and don't wish to discuss it any more because we are hoping you don't find out how big of cheaters we really are".

I don't think anything in the history of sports has pissed me off worse than this last decade with the Pats.

I've posted so often over the years on message boards, and talked so much about them...saying how they were such a weird team and how things just didn't add up and how they somehow knew so much and were so "smarter" than other teams....just didn't add up...

And people talked down to me and told me I was an idiot, told me I was bitching and a crybaby, told me I was just "mr. conspiracy, etc. You name it..."I" was the idiot for questioning this team over and over again.

AND THE WHOLE FUKING TIME, I WAS RIGHT. This fraud tarnished the game I love for a whole decade, and their fans just push it aside and say how its ok b/c supposedly "everyone does it" and supposedly they could have still won if they didn't do it.

The league knows that the last decade is tarnished but destroyed evidence to make everything ok.

I remember when Belicheat was a consistent loser with the Browns and somehow is able to take average players who are smarter than everyone else and create a dynasty in the age of free agency.

Anyone can succeed if they cheat. Its just a question of whether they get caught or not. In the grand scheme of things, its unfortunate that so many don't get caught.

I think its so funny how people honestly think that
by stealing signals it gave them a competitive advantage. If the Atlanta Falcons had the balls to do it would that give them a comp. advantage over there opponent??

:142smilie The talent on ones team has no say ,on how a teams season pans out.
It was the pats fault that Macnabb was puking on that last drive.
It was the pats fault that the rams d couldnt stop brady, and there o on that last drive, not to mention all of adams fieldgoals to ,that were converted.

Its the pats fault that the tuck rule was inforced on the fantom no fumble call, not to mention that adam converted all his kicks in a frikken blizzard!!

You guys, all call you the astreiks ,need to get alife.
I know it hurts the 3SB championships, but except the fact that the pats this past decade have been tops of the league, who while trying to get a comp. advantage got caught.

Move on crytbabiies(joey porter:mj07: )

Hey Td,You sound like all the years of Duke choking in the Ncaas has made you a bitter man:142smilie ,relax big guy, theres always next year.

Oh yeah,us beating Carolina in the SB,would have nothing to do with all the hate, huh??

Maybe you,Specter, and Porter can get together and start the Hatriots club,I mean for real,im sure you would have a lot of sign-ups.
