It depends where you are looking to dine. From jacket required to shorts and golf shirt, plus everything in between. I'll add recommendations in a bit.

no sportsbook, but was one of the nicer non-Vegas casino's I've been to.

Last time I was there, pretty sure they lent me a jacket and tie to dine at Galatoires, which is a must. It is the best restaurant I have eaten at in NO, but truly, I could eat every meal at Acme. Acme is very casual.

Harrahs is there plus Biloxi is about an hr away which also have casinos.

Good advice. Galatoires will lend a jacket, as it is jacket required dining establishment. Very tasty classic creole (new orleans version of cajun) cuisine. Acme is a good place to eat, and oysters will be good in october. Jack and I ate at Acme when he visited NOLA. Lunch at Mother's (across the street from Harrah's) is good. Try a ferdie.

Mother's has dropped off since changing ownership ... didnt even finish my ferdie when I was there in June and Cie knows how I can eat :scared

here is a Wiki link to their restaurants ... Commanders Palace is pretty fancy and used to be the #1 rated restaurant in the US ... Cie will be much better on suggestions ... you also have Emiril's and K-Pauls restaurants for other famous chefs

Mr B's in the French quarter is a good choice and is a Brennan establishment. I'd wear chinos and a collared shirt. Bbq shrimp, gumbo and other creole staples are very good.

I always go to Mr B's and was there the last time I was there the night Cie stood me up :facepalm:

we wore shorts and golf shirts in there but most had on slacks ... but if you are going into the Quarter after dinner, you want to be dressed comfy :0074

and he is right, the BBQ shrimp is an ABSOLUTE MUST there!!!

I love Drago's (2 Poydras Street) Charbroiled Oysters and a cold Abita.

Sop up the sauce with some french bread. It's at the bottom of Hilton Riverside and right next door is the riverwalk and mall area.

A dozen oysters and a cold beer $20 plus tip.


An off the cuff lunch place that I visit often is Ugly Dog saloon 401 Andrew Higgins Drive. They have the best beans on the planet and the bbq isn't bad.



It's a dive and beers a cold. It's all about the loaded beans! :00hour
