The appeasement protestors were out again this past weekend, though in significantly reduced numbers. Once again .. it was all about the United States. Not one single sign calling for Saddam Hussein to disarm. Not one single demand that I saw that Hussein abide by U.N. Resolution 1441.

The inescapable conclusion is that it is leftist-driven anti-Americanism that is driving those demonstrations overseas, and partisan politics that is driving those demonstrations at home. Let?s make it clear here. I am not saying that Americans demonstrating against the war are anti-American. I?m saying that they?re liberals, Democrats and leftists who do not want to see another Republican president prevail a significant international conflict. They watched Reagan bring down the Soviet Union, though they certainly won?t admit it. They watched Bush 41 liberate Kuwait. Now they?re poised to sit on the sidelines and see Bush 43 liberate Iraq. It?s more of a hate Republicans/ hate Bush movement in the United States than it is an anti-war movement.

Turf, with all due respect it seems to be more of a love Bush, right wing, conservative War.
Before Bush filled his cabinet with Oilmen and his fathers buddies did you give two thoughts to Iraq? After 911, while we were bombing the piss out of Afaghanastan, did you give two thoughts to the poor people of Iraq who must be liberated?

I completely stand by what I said.

You and I are not of the mindset that disliking someone's attitude would make you want to kill them, but I don't think a guy like Bin Laden is above that. American arrogance is precisely why some other countries don't like us, particularly the arrogance to say they don't like us because they envy us as PRO said. That's the ultimate arrogance.

I ain't saying its right. I'm just saying that's a way to see it.

And, I like to let people that read this who are from other countries know that we all don't think like that and that some of us condemn it. What he said was arrogant and stupid regardless of whether he has screws pins and rods in his leg or not.

StevieD must say you are right on that one. But not completely. Bush 43 remembers his dad was on Saddams hit list. So Bush 43 I think all along was hopeing to get alittle something going in Iraq. But we did stated getting ready for Iraq before November last year. Many feal we did but that was when we went to the UN. We were already moving troops and planing this in August. unless all the papers and News outlets were all just seeing things.

DJV, without a doubt this has been in the planning a long time. Not in the American publics mind but in Bush's.
These people that want to Liberate Iraq are the same people who scoff at and have no use for Amnesty International.

I must admit that I?m enjoying the distress being felt by America?s leftists, socialists and Democrats. They watched the Soviet Union fall while a Republican was in office. Then they watched Saddam Hussein chased from Kuwait by another Republican president. More recently they?ve seen the Taliban routed from Afghanistan, and Al Qaeda crippled by ? you got it ? a Republican president. It?s all quite a contrast to Clinton?s little cruise missile jabs and his refusal to take Osama Bin Laden when he had the chance. Now the Democrats are fixin? to watch another Republican president liberate the people of Iraq and rid the world of a brutal and dangerous dictator.

It?s all enough to make you cry, isn?t it.

Not.

Pwine,

No I don't think that all Canadians think that we deserve the planes crashing into our buildings.

My wife is French-Canadian. She corresponds with some people who live in Quebec City by e-mail & she has shown me e-mail messages saying that they have heard people at their work say that the Americans attitude brought the planes crashing into the buildings.

So to Canada, France, Germany and the like. God forbid anything happens in your country. God forbid four thousand of your citizens are killed in a terrorist act, or a lunatic dictator threatens you with weapons of mass destruction. I hope your military might is enough to handle it because as far as I'm concerned, you can take your call for help and shove it up your ass.

I agree but if anything did happen to those countries the U.S.A would be there in a heart beat to help defend them even though so many of them talk bad about us.

Turf you make my point perfectly, thank you.

But remember the Soviet Union fell because it imploded. This war, on top of Afaghanastan, is going to cost a bundle. A bundle we do not have right now. I hope you are willing to open up your wallet when it is time to pay for it.

Look for a market rally. CNN reports that if you review the last 25 times the United States engaged in a shooting conflict you will find a sustained stock market rally followed in 22 cases. It?s not war that the stock market dislikes -- it?s uncertainty.

Copied from another forum..

"obviously you people get all your imformation from fox news.......

bush has used fear, intimidation , bribery, coercion and outright threats to get the rest of the world to back his war. out of 196 countries on this planet, how many back bush? bush has used the grief of 9/11 to manipulate the american people. he has lied to you. he has misinformed you. you have been duped. congradulations america, you are now the proud owner of a war against a third world country with a fourth rate military which DOES NOT have nuclear weapons, has NO ties to terrorists, has NOT threatened the US or its allies, DID NOT have chemical weapons until the US gave them to them, and DID not use those chemical weapons against his own people (the cia says all those Iraqis were killed by Iran............ seems we gave Iraq chemical weapons in order to retaliate).

If you pick up a globe, you will see iraq(if you can find it) is on the opposite of the world from the US (if you can find it). Iraq is surrounded by Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran. None of these country are in favor of a US invasion. 14000 miles away the greatest, strongest country in the world is terrified of the mighty Iraqians. But Iraqs neighbors aren't. 75 former congressman, 43 nobel prize winners and BILLIONS worldwide say thi is an unjust war. One man disagrees.

Why do americans favor war when it is so unpopular around the world? Only in america does more than 10% of a population favor this action. WHY? Because as Europeans have been telling us for decades, americans are fat, lazy, stupid and ignorant. Americans get the majority of their information from television. God forbid we pick up a newspaper or even worse, for people like us who spend half their day in front of a computer, search out other opinions or information from different sourses. The only thing americans see is the cheerleading going on by the networks (wonder what commercial time will cost during a war). We refuse to see the manipulation of the press by the white house. We refuse to see the terrorist attack on our constitution by the attorney general. In a few days, americans will be dieing in a desert in Iraq. But we wont know it. The administration doesn't want you to know this war won't be like the first one.

240 years ago the declaration of indepedence declared our right as a people to question the actions of our government. Ou constitution protects the right to do so. George Bush works for ME, and I'm questioning the hell out of his actions.

After 2 tours of combat in VIet Nam I recieved a degree in political science from the university of south florida (tampa) ....................... to say i'm against this action is an understatement. May god protect our boys........"

War, if it cannot be stopped, will be the ultimate in modern retribution, an inititation into the virtual way of death. It will also echo back through 2,500 years of bloodshed justified by the sway of good over evil. Bush should have studied the Old Testament prophecy further.

When the clouds of war settle down, the children of the future will no longer ask, "What did you do in the war, daddy?" They will be rather more inclined to raise questions along the lines of, " What did you do for peace, mummy?"

"the bunker"
props to all guys who served...

props to all guys who served...

but,as was my case yesterday,we all need to take it down a notch......people are saying stuff and dissing each other in this thread and it`s really unusual for madjacks....this reminds me of my days at the prescription......

but,i have to ask the guys who have been readily bashing bush in these threads an honest question.....if clinton, for arguments sake, had made this case(and he has given some speeches that are basically hell bent for leather regarding saddam)and decided to go in and get saddam, would you guys be saying the same things?.....and try and be honest....because i think what gauls some guys on here,is the fact that for americans, this is more about politics than getting rid of saddam.....this is the gore/bush election fiasco revisited....and let me say i lean more to being libertarian than republican or democrat...but not in a strict sense......it is disturbing to me to see what looks like tunnel vision by most....strict division straight down political party lines.........i believe in a woman`s right to choose,....i hate high taxes and having the governments hand in my pocket..........i hate rush limbaugh with a passion....and i hate tom daschle for trying to take political advantage of a very dire situation.....dick gephardt would have my vote in a democratic primary for showing good common sense in a time where it`s not good for the country`s leaders to be throwing bombs at one another......

this war looks like it`s going to happen....it scares me to death....and i can see both sides of the argument.....i hope everyone is making an honest effort to weigh the facts....i sense some hope that our country fails just to satisfy their political appetite.....and that`s crazy.....and almost as as scary as the war.......

Guys:
We should not bash Canada or Germany or any other country which chooses to abstain from this conflict.
We should not bash the anti-war protester or the pro-war activist.
As an American, we should believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and to choose to act or not to act is of their own free will.
What has happened for these past 4 1/2 months is the world has been waging peace. Looking at this conflict from both sides, from all angles, weighing the costs involved. It is a huge undertaking. There will be sacrifice; human life, wealth, ties with other governments, future retribution.
Other governments have decided that the cost of this war is too high. Some have joined America in the belief that the cost of doing nothing outweighs the cost of action.

IMO - I am proud to be an American. I see this war as a necessary evil. I do not buy into all the hype surrounding both sides of this issue. I have listened and watched both anti and pro-war activists yell and scream and holler about why they are correct. And because we are free to disagree about these issues makes me glad to be an American. I believe that the Iraqi people deserve the same right. We went to the aid of France and Britain during WWII, carrying the ideals of America, not wanting any country to fall under a totalitarian regime. We believe people should be free. We have a volunteer Armed Forces. Our services have people serving in them because that is what they have chosen for their career. They want to protect our country, our values, our ideals. That is one reason our military is so great and I want to thank these brave individuals.
Whether you disagree with this war or not, the time to dissent has passed. We need to be united in our efforts and show our troops we support them. If yo do not like this administration, then next November, let them know it by voting them out.
People on these forums are saying that we are just opening a bigger can of worms. The can is already open. If you don't already know it, let me tell you. The majority of countries in the world do not like us. Get over it. The Middle Eastern countries that we have made rich by buying their oil despise us and what we stand for. A holy war is already going on; we just haven't started fighting it yet. The radical islamic faiths see all Christians as infidels and under Islamic law, infidels are to be killed if they can't be converted. Our problem here is that Christianity is a faith of peace. Radical islamic militants want to kill us and we preach peace. Schools in Iraq and Iran teach children to hate America. Terrorism and the hatred for America will not stop until this line of thinking is terminated. Why do they hate America? One reason that I believe to be true. Feel free to disagree. What images do you think they see of America. Mr Smith going to work at his blue collar job, pulling 45 hours a week and struggling to make his house payment? I doubt it. How about all the crap Hollywood puts out in the form of movies and TV shows and soap operas? Our senses have becomed dulled to all this crap. But in their society, this is evil stuff. And they perceive this to be America. And their perception is their reality.
I've rambled enough. I feel this war is justified if the only reason is to liberate the Iraqi people. My best friend's fiancee is from Iraq and she says that it is horrible over there. I'm sure there are security issues for our country involved too. I thank GW Bush for having the nads to buck the popular opinion of the world and put America's safety and concerns first. Too many times, other leaders of our country have put our interests secondary to the world's. Whether you agree with him or disagree, he has stated his case, chosen his course and not waffled over it. His political career and legacy depend on this and he was still willing to take it on. I have to give him kudos for that. If this war turns out bad, woe be it to the Republican party for many years.

Take it for what it's worth, my two cents.
