What I said was true in the sixties also. Would you go out on a limb and agree that the Packers were "contending" in the sixties?

I was thought I read where you were in your early 50s I must of been wrong, Cause if you are, i Don't think you would remember what Marsh was saying.

Simply you can't expect a Minnesota TV station to put the Packers on at any costs. Their paying advertisers are mostly from Minnesota.

Remember what happened 15 years ago or so when they made the Packers the game on local and Viking fans had to go to the bars?

The Minnesota advertisers threatened to quit advertising. They had em by the balls.

I remember Marsh very well. I remember when the Brewers were playing the Cards in the 1982 playoffs, and Marsh came on to do the sports wearing a St. Louis hat. He said, "I've always been a Redbird fan." I hated him even more after that. He disliked all Wisconsin athletics.

Well yes that is true about Marsh, can't understand why he would dislike Milwaukee that much, Crew were in the East back then.

Desmond Bishop signs with the Vikings, many Packer fans I know kept pointing to Bishop coming back this season as an answer to the shitty defense. Now that he signs with Vikes some are saying, "he's washed up."

Just can't win with these guys

It's still up in the air, but I think there is a good chance he will be a solid player. However, who knows after last year's injury. Packers wanted to sign him at a renegotiated price, but he wouldn't do it. Vikes again waiting to pick up the Packers' losses. I am curious to know whether these guys are making more with the Vikes than they would have with the Pack. You would have to assume they are, at least to some degree.

Bishop was not offered to renegotiate, he was released and the Vikings only offered the league minimum with a little bit of incentive. IFhe becomes a solid player again then you have to wunder what the Pack is doing? They are usually good at making moves. If I was a Packer fan, I would be a little bit pist at how they go about their business of relying on the draft almost entirely. It has worked but the last 3 drafts have been subpar so far, maybe this year those players will develop but it does put a lot of pressure on drafting.

I think their roster is fairly weak, what do you think there record is if Rodgers is not there. 5 - 11, 6 - 10? I can't possibly see them go with Harrell as the back up this year.

I agree that the Pack would be mediocre at best without Rodgers. But the same applies to all teams. The QB is by far the most important position. Maybe a few of the defensive powerhouses like Pitt and Balt get by with mediocre quarterbacks, but not too many teams will.

Yes mist definitely but Green Bay I think is more QB dependent than any team in league due to their surrounding talent level.

Have been looking at some preseason power rankings for these teams. No need to read them, I have summerized them and added some comment.

Packers 3 - 6
Bears 10 - 13
Vikes 16 - 20
Lions 24 - 27

Most have sited the Packers revamped running game. I know they added some talented running backs but what have they done to improve their offensive line and their inability to play defense? Drafting one defensive end just doesn't do it for me but then again they have Aaron Rodgers who can make up for a lot of weakness.

The Bears added upgrades at offensive line and hope they get Jefferies to step up at WR, I would worry about defensive liabilities and if Tillman has lost any steps, if he hasn't he is one of the best.

Vikes get a low grade because of Ponder and lack of receiving game. One thing I noticed is that Ponder did throw for 3000 yards 18 TD 12 INT and improved his rating 11 points in a year, better receivers but tougher schedule. Still a lot of if's on the team, can AP repeat his success? Line backing core is thin but they have a nice group of young players.

Detroit, the defense is the key but they have added a young DE and if the DTs can play to potential they can really help out that back 7. Bush will aid them and give Stafford another passing option on 3rd down making them very tough to defend. Did they do enough on the O Line? The secondary and special teams still need to shore up.

Read some fan comments about the power rankings, man some make some stupid comments, like "if AP goes down then the Vikes will really suck and be going for the #1 pick" Well you can say the same thing about many teams. The Packers would be a 3 - 5 win team if Rodgers goes down. The Vikes do rely on AP but I think the Pack lean more heavy on Rodgers. JMO

I obviously do not like how the NFC North preseason power rankings. Some having Green Bay as high as 3? Man that's a lot for a team with a horseshit defense and 3 mediocre to below average drafts in a row, No QB has been sacked more than Aaron Rodgers in past 3 years.

Chicago, I can see them being decent again but I have a gut that they bomb. People bring up Ponder but seriously Cutler has been around A LOT LONGER and blows. They added some O Line help but it's not like these guys are scaring anybody.

I think the Vikes are under rated and I like it, I can see why they have issues with Ponder and a linebacking crew that is who knows where. I do see a nice O line and improving WRs and Secondary. Vikes have more primetime games this year and for some reason they blow in Primetime, well that's cause they choke. Also they are inconsistent on the road especially on grass, its damn frustrating.

I see Pinnacle has the Vikings wins over/under at 7 1/2 and you can take the over at +112! I would think you would like those odds, bp.

Pack is 10 1/2. Chi is 8 1/2 and Det is 8.

I hope I'm seeing this clearly and not just because I'm bias. A lot of people disagree with me but I usually pick the Viking season totals right. Went through all the rosters again today and still feel strongly. I have a strong suspicion the Detroit is going to be really tough

I know it's early but reports are that Ponder looks lost, defense is schooling him. Not the end of the works this early in camp but it is disturbing. A guy in his third year drafted this high should have more control and command of the of the offense.

Cassle has been impressive and is out playing Ponder under same conditions.

Frazier will really be under the gun if Ponder flops cause most thought he was a reach and it appears that Ponder was who he urged the brass to pick
