hello there,

Jesse Jackson was already involved in the Issel situation. Demanded more minority hiring and wanting his group to get a piece of the pie, if you will. He's an equal opportunity opportunist.

But let's face it, what Issel did turned out to be a public relations nightmare for the Nuggets. Groups threated to boycott, etc.

And look at how "harmless" Al Campanis' comment was. I personally don't agree with him getting fired. But it just shows how sensitive things really are, and how powerful threats of public backlash can be.

Heck, like Nolan Dalla said, if we wanted to send the NBA or NFL a message on a number of issues let's all stop going to and watching their games. Won't happen though.

The thing that pissed me off the most (other than playing the race card) was the fact that he stated that he doesn't answer to the fans....Hello but who puts the butts in the seats...I heard from two reputable sources that there were two meetings today with the AD and staff...no news yet as to what came out of them, might hear something tommorow...IMOP its time for Nolan to go he stated a couple years back that he wanted to retire at 60 well guess what he is 60 now and would love for them to buy out that big contract...I think they should give him an adm position and make himm work for the next 6 years

:thefinger Nolan:thefinger thats what i think of him

Doc you gotta be careful of overcategorizing just on the basis of race.......of course there is a culture out there of horrible morals but it extends way beyond the scope of any one race......

we are all made different and all have individual strengths and weaknesses.......for example, the Chinese man can turn a watch into a TV.....lol....anyone remember who said that?

children or are just waking up to the real world. Since you don't live on the mainland it appears you've never had to deal with alot of the issues that most of had had to deal with, so i consider you an outsider looking in, giving an opinion of something you probabaly have not lived therefore it is just that an opinion. When you have walked in my shoes then i would consider your reply to be worthwhile, other wise it's just an OPINION of your emotions. And since i didn't start this thread i followed what i felt was being expressed by other cappers on this board, i will agree this should be under general discussions. Make sure before you render an OPINION you have walked in the shoes of the one making the post. So sorry you were offended, then again you may someday realize what myself and others were talking about, maybe then you will have grown up.

Doc...don't sweat it. People don't know you or what you have been through in life. Let them judge away because it doesn't mean shit what they think. They just don't get it. You did explain yourself with the last few lines and that should have made it pretty clear as to what you are about.

up against yours anyday. You obviously can't read a post and understand the real meaning of what i was trying to get accross.
You have no idea the type of person i am, and based on 1 reply you make an assumption. If you read my post what you said to me was exactly what i posted about racism. Go take a look in the mirrow, after you read your post to me again, you might be suprised at what you'll see. LOL

yeah i know Doc.......unfortunately liberals have raised a generation of minorities where many think they are owed something and that they all deserve to be treated with favoritism.......at the first sign of a difficulty, instead of reaching back for something inside them to succeed, they think the government is the solution to everything.....we would not have this problem if we treated everyone equally and promoted self-reliance instead of government reliance.......the underachievers would rather steal from the overachievers......

hey bryanz....

hey bryanz....

why don't you look into the posts a little deeper before giving me that contrite..white liberal view on the world. It is quite obvious to me that you know nothing of what people were trying to get across on this subject. I'm not even going to try and explain it any further to you...and as far as the education comment, I too will put mine up against yours whenever you want. Hey, go put your butt in an NBA seat, they need people like you to support those thugs....anybody with any heart wouldn't give a penny to those phucks. Just remember in 10 years when you look out there on the court and you see 10 blacks....black refs....black coaches....black managment, that you helped to facilitate it. Don't worry though, they will still complain and moan about something they are being "wronged" on, so your work will still be useful to them.

What's up doc,

All I said is that I expected better from you than to see that rant you posted. This wasn't the place to do it. You even offered an apology at the end. Enough said.

And no disrespect, but I couldn't have rebutted your above post any better than you did yourself. No, I am NOT you, so I don't understand all of the issues going on in your life. Since that's the case, how can YOU understand what many African-Americans have gone through in THEIR lives. Have YOU "walked in THEIR shoes", as you said yourself? I agree with you that the coach was out of line with what he said, so no argument there. But after having typed the last few lines and having realized you had injected your own personal feelings, why even bother posting it? And I won't even get into your use of the "N" word. That was classless.

I am sooo glad to know you have (or had) black friends, but to say that all blacks have done to you over the last 10 years is screw you is a blanket statement if there was one. And you even acknowledged you are even more of a RACIST now than before! I couldn't believe what I was reading!!! I assume you were thinking before you typed that sentence. Maybe YOU'RE the one getting a bit emotional.

As for me, I grew up on the mainland and lived on the east coast and deep south for over 20 years, so before you start offering YOUR opinion about me you'd better get your facts straight. C'mon, at least I admitted I didn't know you. "Outsider" my ass.

"...anyone with any heart wouldn't give a penny to those phucks..."

Huh, what are you saying? Gotta use the 5-letter word? You're about as coherent as my dog. Yeah, sure these athletes are grossly overpaid. And most of us will agree that they don't give their best night in and night out. But who gives these guys their huge salaries? Their teams' predominately white owners. And who negotiates their salaries? A bunch of mostly white sports agents. Who's the commish? A white guy named David Stern. Who pays outrageous ticket prices to attend the games? Mostly whites.

As for the NBA becoming all-black, you're also as nuts as my dog. Many European players are entering the NBA (as it plans to expand there), and lack of minority hiring practices won't allow the predominately black management you're so scared of.

Oh my god......actually I'm so so wrong. Sorry mcity. It's already happened. Remember something called the Negro Leagues? History tells me those teams were all-black. Probably all-black management, too. I wonder why......you don't suppose they were "wronged" on, do you?

Just go check yourself and get back to capping.

gecko.....I probably shouldn't...

have entered into this discussion with someone of your intelligence...you are definately smarter than me. As far as who gives these guys their huge salaries....fans...white fans!!! The only point I was making is that we are being disrespected as a race and nothing is said about it....you ever wonder why that is? or do you just turn the other cheek and let them smack the other side of your face? We all know what happens when a white man or woman makes a comment or flies off of the handlebars during a press conference....don't we. Blacks can show "pride", but when a white man sticks up for his race, he is "racist." I'm done...think I'll go put on my rose colored glasses, watch oprah, and CHECK MYSELF!! I like that one!! ;)

mcity said:

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps Nolan Richardson is referring to the fact that he is the most visible and successful head coach of a major intercollegiate sport at the University of Arkansas, with a national championship to boot? If it aids in Nutt's recruiting, fine. Why do you automatically assume it has something to do with him being black? Is he supposed to be some sort of black father figure? Does he invite black recruits over to his ranch for soul food? Talk about jumping to conclusions.

btw, Nolan's wrong when he says HE'S the best thing going for the University of Arkansas. :nono: The STUDENTS & FACULTY are.

I totally agree with you that the best thing going for arkansas are the students and faculty. Nolan said "do you know why the football recruits talk to me....do you?" "I didn't think so!" If you are so nieve as to not know what he meant, I don't think we can debate this anymore.....he 100% for sure was talking race...not a doubt in my mind. If...and he didn't...mean something else, he could've or should say, he would've explained that statement. He chose not to explain, in order for people like you, who choose not to hear something plain as day in what I would call an obvious cryptic message....he didn't say it....But he sure as hell did.

Okay, mcity, I'm getting your drift. No, I'm not that intelligent, just college educated with a good job and enjoying a pastime which you and I both love.

I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment that we're not getting enough of the "white man's perspective", if you will. I hear it all the time, on FOX News, conservative talk radio, etc. Besides, were blacks afforded the same avenues of expression until recently? America is a diverse melting pot, and that will not change.

p.s. why are you up so damn early in the morning?

I too am college educated...masters degree in exercise physiology. I am not trying to be an a-hole here....I have some of my best friends that are black....had two in my wedding....I love people....I love diversity and what america stands for. With that said however, I just want a fair shot for everyone....if a white F's up, punish him....if a black F's up, punish him...equally!! I understand and agree that blacks have been playing on an uneven playing field for a terribly long time...but if we as americans are going to level the field and treat each other fairly and equally, we need to start that process now. As far as what I'm doing up right now, I work as an exercise phys. for a major corp. that runs three shifts, so I work the night shift....great job, I get to cap games and debate with you... What is your story? Found any games for today?
