Alright, mcity. Let's say Nolan was cryptic in his statement. You mean to tell me that if he was the black head coach of the Arkansas swim team that black football recruits would rather talk to him than Houston Nutt because Richardson is black and Nutt is white? That's Nutts!!

I think you make a good point there...but the fact of the matter is, Nolan is a black coach whom is obviously being used in recruitment due to his race...and he knows it. He is obviously a major figure at the school and he totally understands and stated in that message that he is being used to recruit black football players. What I took exception with was the hidden message there that said....those white folk need me...they couldn't get those black football players without me....and to me, that is a shot at the school and huston nutt.

Thanks for your reply, and for letting me know a little more about yourself. This level playing field debate can go on forever. The fact is this has become a debate about socio-economics. Who's getting the best jobs, who's going to college, who's working as laborers, who's getting welfare. If the politicians would just get their heads out of their asses then maybe we can establish reasonable guidelines across the board. As it is now, the system's too fractured as states enact their own props and measures. Hey, it's after 1 am right now and I'm hitting the sack.
 Gotta get up in 4.5 hrs. As for me, I'm playing a teaser Portland NBA and Kentucky NCAA. That's all for now.:)

I can't resist

I can't resist

Alright, I see we both have about the same amount of posts. So who's gonna have more?

Regarding Nolan's recruiting, would you have reacted differently if Dean Smith, Vince Dooley or Bo Schembechler had said the same thing? Nolan's the same as those guys. He gets off on his ego trip, the amount of power he perceives himself to hold at Arkansas.

if one of those coaches you mentioned would have issued an easily translated cryptic message like Nolan's at a press conference, I definately would have said WTF. And I guarantee you, had one of them said something like nolan, there would have been heck to pay for them. the media....different organizations would have picked apart what he meant and when the cryptic message was unveiled, they would have paid a high price. Remember when fuzzy zoeller said something about tiger serving "greens and chicken" at the masters....that was an obvious cryptic message or he thought joke that didn't take a genius to realize he was talking about race. This is along the same line...just a little..and I do mean just a little less obvious one.

okay, one more time

okay, one more time

I'm gonna be half-asleep tomorrow morning at work. Forget Fuzzy Zoeller. Yeah, he was making a "joke", but an ill-timed one at that. As for the coaches, you can't mean what you say? If you heard the same statement from Dean Smith, would you have thought "race"? Come on, get real. Like I said, it's about ego and politics at the university level. And furthermore, you don't also think Nolan was implying that the top football recruits are all black, do you? If not, then the white recruits would be going to his ranch for soul food too!!! LOL

of course he didn't say what recruits he was meeting....that would "crack" his cryptic message....but I don't think he is meeting with white recruits. He was talking about black recruits...come on gecko, it isn't that hard to see. As far as those other coaches...I can honestly say, that if they said in a press conference "do you know why I meet with football recruits?"..."didn't think so!" I would be angered. I'm a huge ND football fan....what if mike brey said that in a presser....wouldn't all of the black organizations and media be on his a#$ because he was more or less talking down Tyron willingham and his ability to talk with and recruit in this case white athletes because he (tyrone) is black? I guarantee it. hey, you better get some sleep, if you wanna pick this up tonight, I'm on here everynight at work....just start a new thread or something. get some sleep, talk to you later.

It's your fault mcity...

....if I fall asleep during my morning meeting. This "cryptic message" thing is on its last legs. Nolan Richardson has successfully kept us guessing about the meaning of what he said. (Just look at us bozos!) But you can't compare Mike Brey and Nolan Richardson. Let's just say that Nolan aids in recruting blacks in general. What's wrong with that? Everyone who goes to Arkansas knows who Nolan Richardson is. Just like everyone who went to Notre Dame knew who Lou Holtz was--national championship coach with a big ego. If I was Houston Nutt, I'd just be pertubed that Nolan would hint at his help in recruiting, if it was true. Wouldn't be good for the Nutty one's image, you know. And besides, if this was the university's dirty little secret or something like that, then I'm glad Nolan aired it out.

I've got the solution

I've got the solution

The University of Arkansas should reassign Nolan Richardson to an administrative post in the Athletic Dept. and hire as its next basketball coach.......

DICKEY NUTT !!!!

Hell yeah, why not? Then both Nutt brothers can help in recruiting each others' players, no one will think twice, and the Razorbacks will be in Hog Heaven.

that sounds like a good solution to me....:D maybe tomorrow we can actually talk about something that we actually have some control over, like picking some winners. Let's let this nolan thing kind of take its course, and we'll see what happens with him and the school. You better get some sleep, that meeting of yours is right around the corner.....you don't want to accidently start talking about "cryptic messages." Let's kick da'man in the a$$ tonight....good luck.

I stand by my post

I stand by my post

Doc,you say you are a racist,I would have to agree with you.I also agree wrong is wrong and right is right. It was wrong for the boys and the principle to do what they did, but that has nothing to do with the boys being black;and the NBA having to many blacks in it for your taste.People don't do what they do because of race. It 's how they are socialized. All blacks & whites are not alike. Why bring race into it.For the record:I am not white, contrite,or a liberal.

What i acutally said is that i had developed....

What i acutally said is that i had developed....

more of a racist attitude in the last 10 years. Yeah i know i was out of line on what i said about the NBA, Hell you'd be suprised at how many black kids come over to my house, boys and girls at least 1 sometimes 3 days a week. I know i typed out of emotion, but when you see the public, school teachers, school adminstrators, and coaches have fear in their eyes and for their jobs because they won't punish blacks anymore than it's gotten to be a joke. That's the idea i was trying to get accross and evidently I did a poor job of doing it. Anyone is welcome at my home, sit at my table and eat dinner with my family, yes blacks as well and they have. I just went off on the racist thing because it is getting so damn old. Hell nobody wants to take responsibllity for what they do anymore. It's always 10% of the population that causes 100% of the problems. it's over as far as i'm concerned, i feel very comfortable with where my head, and heart are when it comes to people no matter what their race, and i do sleep very well at night:yawn:

In an attempt to answer to your question, if those boys that bothered my daughter had been white, they would have been susupened on spot, seen it happen, maybe you havent'
