I'm not sure if we have any doctors on the forum or anyone that might be in the know. I am a stubborn S.O.B. about going to the doctor. That being said the past 10 days or so my right pinky finger and the tip of my right finger has been numb. I've tried pretty much everything including pressure balls, doing more cardio at the gym and nothing. It's starting to concern me. Has anyone had anything similar to this or might offer some sort of suggestions? Thanks in advance

Start jerking off with your left

Seriously, it will go away. I had it too and it went away after about a month. It might be how you're handling your mouse or resting that hand when using it.

Frank, MJ said exactly what I thought it might be. I'm not sure how much you're on the computer but I had the same exact problem and it was how high I was sitting and how I rested my arms while on the computer.

That's wonderful medical advice, Jack.

Just saying what happened to me. When I moved in 2002 I started using a new desk and chair and my mouse hand got numb. It went away after about a month.

Symptoms
By Mayo Clinic staff

Carpal tunnel syndrome typically starts gradually with a vague aching in your wrist that can extend to your hand or forearm. Other common carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms include:

Tingling or numbness in your fingers or hand, especially your thumb and index, middle or ring fingers, but not your little finger. This sensation often occurs while holding a steering wheel, phone or newspaper or upon awakening. Many people "shake out" their hands to try to relieve their symptoms. As the disorder progresses, the numb feeling may become constant.
Pain radiating or extending from your wrist up your arm to your shoulder or down into your palm or fingers, especially after forceful or repetitive use. This usually occurs on the palm side of your forearm.
A sense of weakness in your hands and a tendency to drop objects.
When to see a doctor
If you have persistent signs and symptoms that might be due to carpal tunnel syndrome that interfere with your normal activities ? including sleep ? see your doctor. If you leave the condition untreated, nerve and muscle damage can occur

Where it is real F ing COLD
Before this happened did you fall asleep on your hand and wake up to your hand being numb or "dead?" That can cause residual numbness in a finger for a period of time and then it goes away.. Doesn't sound like carpal tunnell to me but I am not ruling it out. Usually carpal tunnell is in the wrist and thumb area.. I would not be overly worried about it like Jack said because you do not have pain that radiates or shoots down like nerve pain.. I think it will go away with time.. If the numbness starts to radiate or if you are getting shooting pain or nerve pain then I would go in to see a doc.

Thanks for all of the comments guys. I will try to use the other hand with the mouse when I am around the computer for the time being.

I purchased a new computer and thus a new mouse about a month and a half back so perhaps that is the problem.

I've been asked if I hit my arm or jammed it doing something but that wasn't the case at all. One day I was taking a shower and just sort of realized that my pinky finger on my right hand and the tip on my ring finger of the same hand was numb.

It doesn't hurt or anything just a weird feeling. Last Saturday my father and I went golfing for the first time this year. After the round the numbness ran down to the palm area of my hand on the pinky side. I'm left-handed so this is my lead hand and just figured it was from the pressure.

As some of you might know I work from home so I am on the computer a lot during the day but there has never been any sensation or discomfort my left hand or fingers.

I'll keep you guys updated. Hopefully it goes away. My concern that it might some sort of nerve damage of some sort but after reading here and abroad it doesn't seem to be anything serious.

Thanks.

Even though I am a natural lefty this has/remains to be a weird thing to do but thanks for the suggestion :)
