Saturday, the A's will recall River Cats starter Aaron Harang (3-2, 1.77 at Sacramento, 2-0, 1.08 at Double-A Midland) to pitch for injured Cory Lidle against Travis Harper (1-1, 2.81).
The 24-year-old right-hander was pulled after just two innings of his start on Tuesday for Triple-A Sacramento. Harang is 3-2 with a 1.77 ERA at Sacramento. He was 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA at Double-A Midland before he was promoted in mid-April.
Harang was one of the pitchers acquired from the Texas Rangers in the Randy Velarde trade in November 2000. He would be starting in the spot vacated when Cory Lidle went on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain. If all goes well with Lidle, the A's will need Harang for just one game.
Lidle is scheduled to pitch for Triple A Sacramento on Sunday in Oklahoma City, and then would be available to start next Friday or Saturday at Tampa Bay.
