Someone posted on here that it is a vote grab.

Have to believe it - all annoucements like this are politically motivated, otherwise, why would he take on a hot button issue?

1 in 6 of his 'bundlers' is gay.

After this announcement, he had a huge fundraiser at George Clooney's house, hosting a lot of the West Coast movie elite who are all in support of gay marriage.

Follow the money, folks - it is not that hard.

It is interesting as it puts Romney and Obama in direct opposition - with Romney saying no to gay marriage. 4% of US population is estimated to be gay; not sure exactly on the % considered to be the religious right.

But it attempts to paint Obama as tolerant and Romney as intolerant.

I really do not care about it. Same can be said for most of the social issues - take care of the fiscal issues and some of the social crap will take care of itself.

I do not understand why "marriage" can not be defined for a man and a woman and they can create a new term for a union of man w man or woman w woman.

Lumi makes a very good point about tolerance though - the vehement anger from people in support of this issue against the people who oppose it is pretty scary. Free country - everyone is entitled to their views

Opposition to gay marriage is one thing. Bigotry, intolerance and discrimination are something else. I know alot of folks who oppose gay marriage without spewing inconceivable ignorance.



What are your thoughts on this post opposing gay marriage?

what about a man or woman marrying their dog or cat or horse, why not? If its legal to marry anyone why not your pet? it opens pandoras box to allow gay's to get married

When you don't agree with equal rights for everyone regardless of race, gender, or sexuality, then you are a bigot IMO, regardless if you are conservative or liberals. It's just an observation to me that more conservatives are racist/bigots than liberals.

I have a question for the "chose to be homo's" crowd. Why would anyone want to make that choice, all things considered? What positive upside is there in making that "choice?"

I have no problem with those who feel gay marriage is not a fair proposal (for arguable reasons). I can see the logic in civil unions. I personally don't care too much about the issue, but I personally don't see why another man who happens to want to share his life in matrimony with another man (or woman/woman) shouldn't have the same rights that I do. But that's just me. I don't understand, really, why others feel they should control that for others.

If it were other personal liberty issues, they would defend those liberties to no end. And I think that is where the hypocrisy comes in to this discussion.

It's not like shopping for shoes or a new fire arm and you have many choices. As for shoes, I don't. I have fat, flat feet, so I am limited to 3 choices. Fire arms, Lumi will only buy AMERICAN MADE ! DUH !

I do, many, and I know the tortured life they had lifed as an adolescent and still as an adult. Some are now secure by coming out, but still face the hatred and bigotry that is fired off here.

The same cousin, another daughter, his first child.

She got pregnant, unwed at 19, no big deal, but HUGE ISSUE in our Sicilian Clan, but life went on...
Then she had a girlfriend, then a boyfriend, the guy who got her pregnant, who gave her AIDS. He now wants to become a woman, but they are going to get married first.

I'm not sure how that works within the law, a man and woman get married, but the man has his gender changed. Does that make the marriage ilegal?

I have this nugget of that I have found to be true in most cases.
