Scotty is just another guy that 4 years ago was actually a Bush supporter. At least he still posts in this area. Unlike a whole other bunch who scrambled away.

And if you were Ione Skye, Scotty wouldn't be avoiding you, I don't think.

What vicious spam? I don't think he's done that.

Whatever, I agree with ya. I like sponge in my own way.

He's harmless.

He's kind of like your halfway to totally retarded cousin that you pat on his head and tell him, 'yep, yes.'

There's no shame in that.

You pretty much get abused in every 'discussions thread.'

Because you're a f*cking idiot.

Electrical map, indeed.

These attacks are starting to get hurtful. Moderators should never attack posters:nono: Oh in the electrical thread look at the post the guy pulled up and said who was right. That would be meeeee. If you searched on this site The Sponge is right, i bet you might get 50 post. I was the guy who said the nba is rigged two years ago and now the NBA is in all kinds of turmoil. Hell i even pointed out what players and now guys talk about it, I was the guy that said the Bushes want to stay in Iraq indefinitely and said they were building a massive base in Iraq. You guys all shot me down. Marine and Nevertease blew a gasket. Oh until i produced a picture of the secret base.:mj07: Now Kosey if i offend people for fighting for the truth what can i do?

Obama on the issues

IRAQ

... has said the goal of increasing troop strength so Iraq's leaders can establish a stable government has failed. Would remove all U.S. combat brigades from Iraq within 16 months of taking office, except some to protect our embassy and diplomats.

... calls for the U.S. to loosen some restrictions on Cuba to encourage it to move toward democracy.

... would create a tax credit of $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family, for up to 150 million workers; and simplify IRS tax filings for millions of Americans.

... favors relaxing restrictions on federal financing.

GAY MARRIAGE

... opposes a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, supports civil unions.

ECONOMIC STIMULUS

... would index minimum wage to inflation; invest in job creation, training and manufacturing.

... would make a national health insurance plan available to all Americans and a National Health Insurance Exchange as a watchdog group for all private insurance plans, ensuring fairness and affordability.

SOCIAL SECURITY

... is opposed to privatization and would work with Congress on a payroll tax reform package to keep Social Security solvent.

ON THE COST OF WAR

"I will spare no expense to ensure our troops have the equipment and support they need ... But we also have

to understand that the more than $10 billion we're

spending each month in Iraq is money we could be investing here at home."

ON ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY

"If we unite this country around a common purpose, if we act on the responsibilities that we have to each other and to our country, then we can launch a new era of opportunity and prosperity."

IMMIGRATION

... would improve security at borders; supports legalization for undocumented workers after they pay a fine and learn English; and favors a guest worker program. Supports giving legal status to immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, who finish two years of college or military service.

ABORTION

... has consistently defended a woman's right to choose.

DEATH PENALTY

... supports the death penalty in cases "so heinous the community is justified in expressing the full measure of its outrage."

HOMELAND SECURITY

... would improve security for chemical plants, keep better track of spent nuclear fuel and upgrade security for public drinking water systems.

GLOBAL WARMING

... would reduce carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050, invest in clean energy technologies, reduce America's foreign oil consumption and address climate and environmental issues with the United Nations.

GUN CONTROL

... favors measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners while keeping guns away from children and criminals.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE

... supports public financing of campaigns combined with free television and radio time to reduce the influence of special interests.

EDUCATION

... would reform No Child Left Behind, expand Head Start programs and make math and science education a national priority.

TRADE

... would fight for a policy that opens up foreign markets to support American jobs, amend the North American Free Trade Agreement to favor American workers.

For a minute Scott I thought you were going to be the one to step forward and give us some facts on his experience and quallification (voting records and accomplishments--but I see your staying true to Obama's statagy --words and promises.

Granted thats enough for liberal base--but you might want to sway some independents and conservatives--who require a few facts to back up rhetoric.

Could you give us some examples such as voting records while in Illinois senate and the how he lived up to his promises(words) on campaign there.

Then maybe you could prove his statement about working across party lines with some facts per his voting record in U.S. senate.

Explain his words taxing of middle compared on how he actually voted--convince us the following is just a myth--

Obama Voted At Least 94 Times For Higher Taxes In The U.S. Senate. (RNC Research)

To Date, Obama Has Voted For A Tax Increase Approximately Once Every Five Days Congress Has Been In Session. (RNC Research; The Library Of Congress Website, thomas.loc.gov, Accessed 6/8/08)

Then maybe you could find us a few character references--

Ex-Friends of Barack
June 12, 2008; Page A16
It turns out that Jim Johnson was not the man Barack Obama thought he knew. The presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee threw the former Fannie Mae CEO over the side as his Vice Presidential vetter yesterday, only a day after he'd said that Mr. Johnson was only "tangentially related" to his campaign and that criticism was a "game that can be played."

Mr. Johnson was cast off after the Journal disclosed that he had received sweetheart loans from Countrywide Financial ? the very firm that Mr. Obama has specifically excoriated for its role in the mortgage meltdown. The press corps will now move on to other things, but this is more than a campaign issue. The disclosure about Mr. Johnson and his successor as Fannie CEO, Franklin Raines, raises serious questions about the extent to which favorable mortgage pricing contributed to Countrywide's rise and fall. At a minimum, a regulatory probe is warranted.

As for Mr. Obama, Mr. Johnson now joins an intriguing and growing list of Mr. Obama's ex-associates that includes the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, and former terrorist bomber William Ayers. We might call this list eclectic, except that there is a consistent pattern of bad judgment followed by an initial defense, then followed by rapid disassociation and regret that none of them were the men Mr. Obama "knew."
We can only wonder if Eric Holder, who is also among Mr. Obama's veep vetters, will be the next to join this club. As Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton Administration, he played a role in the Marc Rich pardon that also deserves to be fully vetted ? all the more so if Mr. Holder is on the short list to be Mr. Obama's Attorney General. Caroline Kennedy, the other member of Mr. Obama's veep vetting team, has probably already inherited a stack of files from Mr. Johnson. She might want to take a peek at Mr. Holder's too.

Actually just show us any actions that back up his rhetoric.

and on his free trade above--is that the "wink wink version given to Canada or his original version :)

McCain event canceled over fundraiser's rape 'joke'
Posted: 02:35 PM ET

Sen. John McCain has made reaching out to women voters an important factor in his campaign.
WASHINGTON (AP)

? John McCain has called off a fundraiser at the home of a Texas oilman who joked about rape during a 1990 gubernatorial run in the state.

The Texan, Republican Clayton Williams, made the joke during his failed campaign against Democrat Ann Richards. Williams compared rape to the weather, saying, "As long as it's inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it."

He also compared Richards to the cattle on his ranch, saying he would "head her and hoof her and drag her through the dirt."

Williams' comments made national news at the time and remain easy to find on the Internet. Even so, McCain's campaign said it hadn't known about the remarks.

"These were obviously incredibly offensive remarks that the campaign was unaware of at the time it was scheduled," McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said. "It's positive that he did apologize at the time, but the comments are nonetheless offensive."

The campaign said it would not return money Williams had raised for McCain because the contributions came from other individuals supporting McCain and not from Williams. Williams told his hometown newspaper, the Midland Reporter-Telegram, that he had raised more than $300,000 for McCain.

Democrats said McCain should give back the money: "Senator McCain's claim of ignorance is no excuse for refusing to do the right thing now. Offensive, disgusting comments like these cannot be tolerated," Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Karen Finney said.

The flap comes as McCain's campaign reaches out to women and to backers of Democrat Hillary Clinton. McCain began a women-focused outreach effort in recent days, sending a well-known female supporter, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, to campaign in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Dont you get it DTB. Being a good President does not mean having a vast amount of experience like you are talking about.

It takes intelligence , charisma, good organizational and decision making skills, people skills, etc etc.

Its something that George Bush does not have any of , as we have found out.

New beginnings.

It takes intelligence , charisma, good organizational and decision making skills, people skills, etc etc.

One of our former presidents served for seven years in the Illinois General Assembly, then one two year term in the U.S. House of Representatives prior to being elected.

His name was Abraham Lincoln, and he did a fairly decent job.

Another former president was Governor of New Jersey for only two years. Prior to that, the closest to public legislative experience he got was as president of Princeton University.

That man was Woodrow Wilson, our president during World War I.

Then there was the former president who served two years in the New York State Senate, was Assistant Secretary of the Navy for eight years and served one four year term as Governor of New York before being elected President.

Many can attest to the fact that Franklin Delano Roosevelt did a pretty good job.

Another president held no elective office at all prior to being elected as Vice President, less than a year afterward ascending to the presidency. He was a product of patronage, and was appointed to lucrative positions thanks to his ties to a powerful political machine.

Chester Arthur, while not a great president, was instrumental in reforming the very civil service system that he was the beneficiary of, eliminating a great deal of government corruption. He also won praise for vetoing blatant pork barrel legislation from Congress.

Other presidents were previously cabinet members or appointed officials who had never held an elective office, such as Herbert Hoover and William Taft.

Then there was the guy who served only a two year term as a local sheriff, followed by a year as mayor of Buffalo, NY, followed by two years as Governor.

That was Grover Cleveland, the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms.

Others that rose to the presidency from state governership backgrounds, with no national experience, include Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

In between the two Cleveland terms was Benjamin Harrison. His only elected government experience was one term in the U.S. Senate.

Theodore Roosevelt served two years as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, followed by two years as Governor of New York, prior to becoming Vice President and later ascending to the presidency.

Many military leaders with little or no political experience have run for and won the presidency, including George Washington, Andrew Jackson, William Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Ulysses Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes and Dwight Eisenhower.

Granted, there were some not-so-good presidents in there with thin experience. Men such as Warren Harding, Herbert Hoover and Millard Fillmore. But there were also underwhelming presidents with long and vast backgrounds and loads of experience, such as Richard Nixon, Franklin Pierce, Andrew Johnson, James Buchanan, Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush.

All in all, it's about the person, not the resume. And Obama's experience is adequate.

Same attributes are prevailent inyour late night Tony Robbins panderers.

Comes a point you have to decide are your being conned or is there merit in what he says--
I prefer the adage--
"Actions speak louder in words"

Do you really believe he was clueless of the activities of these associates coming out of woodwork? Lets forget them for the present and look at iron clad cons/say one thing do another from the past.

example--

in his book Audacity of Hope (page 130), Obama explained that even as a legislator in the minority, "You must vote yes or no on whatever bill comes up, with the knowledge that it's unlikely to be a compromise that either you or your supporters consider fair and or just."

Hmm do actions speak louder than "political words"

For example, in 1997, Obama voted "present" on two bills (HB 382 and SB 230) that would have prohibited a procedure often referred to as partial birth abortion. He also voted "present" on SB 71, which lowered the first offense of carrying a concealed weapon from a felony to a misdemeanor and raised the penalty of subsequent offenses.

In 1999, Obama voted "present" on SB 759, a bill that required mandatory adult prosecution for firing a gun on or near school grounds. The bill passed the state Senate 52-1. Also in 1999, Obama voted "present" on HB 854 that protected the privacy of sex-abuse victims by allowing petitions to have the trial records sealed. He was the only member to not support the bill.

In 2001, Obama voted "present" on two parental notification abortion bills (HB 1900 and SB 562), and he voted "present" on a series of bills (SB 1093, 1094, 1095) that sought to protect a child if it survived a failed abortion. In his book, the Audacity of Hope, on page 132, Obama explained his problems with the "born alive" bills, specifically arguing that they would overturn Roe v. Wade. But he failed to mention that he only felt strongly enough to vote "present" on the bills instead of "no."

And finally in 2001, Obama voted "present" on SB 609, a bill prohibiting strip clubs and other adult establishments from being within 1,000 feet of schools, churches, and daycares."

--maybe just a few present votes here and there--try side stepping issues 130 times with "presents"

Maybe its just me Scott --but I'm just a little leary of politician that campaigns for over a year--avoiding speaking of prior accomplishments or lack thereof--but rather focuses on whats he going to give you-
and themes of hope-change etc that are only words.

Michelle Obama 'touched' by the First Lady's defense
Posted: 04:30 PM ET

From CNN's Emily Sherman

Michelle with her husband and daughters at a campaign event in Iowa last month.
(CNN)? Michelle Obama said Wednesday she was ?touched? First Lady Laura Bush came to her defense when her patriotism was questioned.

?There?s a reason why people like [the first lady],? Obama said on ABC?s The View. ?She doesn?t fuel the fire.?

Earlier this year at a campaign event Michelle Obama said, "For the first time in my adult life, I'm really proud of my country.?

WATCH Michelle Obama respond to questions of her patriotism

Laura Bush told ABC last week the remarks must have been misinterpreted.

"I think she probably meant 'I'm more proud,'" said the first lady, adding that "you have to be very careful in what you say" when you?re campaigning.

"That's one of the things you learn and that's one of the really difficult parts both of running for president, and for being the spouse of the president, and that is everything you say is looked and in many cases misconstrued."

Obama said Wednesday she had sent The First Lady a note that took her ?a while? to write, but wouldn?t divulge any details because she didn?t know whether it had been received yet.

Laura Bush has class and style . Even if George W
is the lowest rated President in history,

Laura Bush rates as one of the most likeable first ladys ever .

If polygamy was allowed in Georgia I swear I would marry that Laura Bush .
