Fox: Black Panthers At Philadelphia Polling Place

.

A controversy involving two men wearing Black Panthers apparel at a local polling place in Philadelphia is getting national attention.

See Leventhal's Report

FOX News' Rick Leventhal received a report from Republican poll watcher Chris Hill that two Black Panthers had stationed themselves at the door to a polling station in Philadelphia and were intimidating voters.

One held a night stick, Hill said.

"Other people here have confirmed that another person in Black Panther attire was holding a night stick and apparently the concern was that they were intimidating people who were trying to go inside to vote," Leventhal reported.

Hill told FOX News that he went to talk to the men and they told him "white power didn't rule there."

A man carrying a night stick was then escorted away from the polling station by police, and FOX News found another Black Panther outside the station who said he was a certified observer.

Police then asked him and the FOX News crew to leave the polling station.

Subsequently, a video surfaced on YouTube of a man in Black Panther attire walking around with a night stick at the same polling place.

"the bunker"
"Minister Najee Muhammad, national field marshal for the New Black Panther Party, and Uhuru Shakur, local chairman of the Atlanta chapter of the party, took turns reading statements from Dr. Malik Shabazz, leader of Black Lawyers for Justice and attorney for the party (yes, that Malik Shabazz)?

??We will not allow some racists and other angry whites, who are upset over an impending Barack Obama presidential victory, to intimidate blacks at the polls,? Muhammad said. ?Most certainly, we cannot allow these racist forces to slaughter our babies or commit other acts of violence against the black population, nor our black president.?

Muhammad added, ?We must organize to counter and neutralize these threats using all means at our disposal. This is a great time for our people, and we must ensure that peace prevails for our people.?

Shakur said the New Black Panther Party does not hate white people, but it does not like racist white people who try to harm the black community?

?Shakur added, ?We warn you, leave Barack Obama alone and leave our babies alone because black people are a spiritual people and a people who are trying to do right, and we will not hesitate to take up our legal rights of self-defense.?

Shakur said the New Black Panther Party believes the plot that was foiled in Crockett County was not an isolated incident and that the party will do what it can to protect members of the black community on Election Day.

?We will be at the polls in the cities and counties in many states to ensure that the enemy does not sabotage the black vote, which was won through the blood of the martyrs of our people,? he said.

As members of the New Black Panther Party said ?Black Power,? Andrew Chirwa, an Alamo resident and native of Malawi in Southern Africa, urged everyone at the press conference to shout ?Black Power? together.""

The only reason most blacks are voting is because a black man is running - I am not saying he is a bad guy - I am saying the actions of the black voters are SAD. They probable never voted before and won?t again unless a black man is on the ticket. Once Obama is elected and they see their day to day lives won?t change, maybe they will realize they are responsible for their own future and that THE MAN isn?t holding them back.

Some people are so retarded. I don't know how many black people I know that say "it's about time we get a black man in office." God, that's such a great reason to vote for the man.

I would venture to say that ATLEAST 90% of new black voters are voting for Obama, and of that 90% percent, just about every one of them are voting for him because he's black.

It almost sickens me, but if they get what they want, it'll be great looking them all in the eyes and knowing their ignorance is responsible as to why nothing has changed.

I can't believe Fox reported this.

They did, and not only that, but callers from the Philly area called into Rush Limbaugh's show and confirmed that story. On his show is when I hear of this first.

Hmm, I know alot of "blacks" that were voting reguraly..to me it seemed they were discouraged when the mess of 2000 went on and may not have voted in 04, but I cant remember any canidate to this point calling upon the black or minority vote as much as Obama has this election I cant agree with the only reason they voted because he was black thing though because that vote was strong enough to help Obama get elected "if" it does, but "if it was only about being black and on the ticket wouldnt Jesse Jackson have made the cut? i think it's more of the fact that this administration has done so poor that EVERYONE has choosen to vote and not just go along with it, ontop of the info that was made readily available this year to the minority voters (example would be clearing up the fact that felons do have a say and can cast a vote, is a good example---laziness and mis informed is only the problem of the person it affects) but the Dems really making EVERYONE feel that they are important in this election I think had alot to do with it, and yes SOME "blacks" voted strictly on race but not the majority I would say. IMO
