The new polls I saw today had Obama ahead from 4 to top one was 8. Gallup weekly was 8. Even Rasmuson tends to go right was at 4.

Have the sportsbooks ever been wrong on a Presidential election?

They've been wrong, and less accurate, than regular polls in recent Presidential primaries.

But they are generally better than polls, so many smart commentators still pay alot of attention to them.

Interestingly, election betting markets historically were very huge before the advent of scientific polling. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were bet 90 years ago and newspapers covered the moneyflows.

IMO, that's pretty easy money on the Republican side there. A lot to lay out there, but pretty certain of a victory. I can't believe they even put a line out on it.
