Jack, I am not trying to get banned or start a "run on the bank". I realize that this site depends a good deal on internet gaming and sponsorship. However, I have always looked to this site for honest information. I have been getting questions from friends regarding the recent arrest of the bet --------- executive and that company's subsequent shutdown. My local books are using this to their advantage and are talking it up (spreading fear) in hopes to regain their share of the market they have lost to the offshores.

Do you guys, or anyone else out there, have an educated opinion as to any long term or trickle down effect of the arrest etc. I realize that if the owners never set foot in the USA then there is not much that can be done. The WTO seems to be saying "leave well enough alone." This is a step back from the WTO's previous position that the US should back down on internet sports gambling.

Is there any reason to worry about the security of money placed in the offshore accounts?

Jack is currently at this moment in Costa Rica checking out some of the more powerful offshores as we speak...i think after some meetings over the next couple of days he can give you a more postive answer that you might be looking for.

Myself, and this is just personally with exclamation personally--- have more money tied up with some solid offshore books than i do in my RRSP's...and i go to bed each night not worrying about.

Jack is offline probably till late tomorrow night for any kind of answer...as a fyi.

another arrest this week

another arrest this week

Sportingbet said Chairman Peter Dicks had been arrested at JFK Airport in New York early on Thursday for alleged violation of Louisiana State laws, mirroring the arrest in July of another CEO on racketeering charges.

Jack, any thoughts? The sector is taking a beating on the London market.

i'm thinking everything will be fine. the 2 arrests have nothing to do with the overall picture of where the industry is going and nothing to do with the bill to ban internet gambling.

if they pass that bill (i don't think it will even come to a vote) these books are not going out of business. things might change but gambling will go on forever.

check and search the general forum as there are a lot of opinions there including mine, fwiw.

also, i STILL think people are going to get paid from the BoS books. time will tell.
