Wow that was cool. In that clip it didn't matter that she did not sing, she brought the crowd into it immediately. I heard today that the game on national networks actually had one of the lowest ratings in the HISTORY of TV ratings with only 1.5 million households watching in the US. Is that correct? Or did I hear it incorrectly?

Playing of anthems at events

There is no specific rule as to when it is appropriate to sing the national anthem at an event. It is up to the organizers to determine if "O Canada" will be sung at the beginning or at the end of a ceremony. If two anthems are to be played at the beginning of an event, "O Canada" should be played first followed by the other one. When anthems are played at the end of an event, "O Canada" should be played last. SUP ??

Etiquette during the playing of the national anthem
As a matter of respect and tradition, it is proper to stand for the playing of "O Canada" as well as for the anthem of any other nation.
Most prop themselves up against each other so they don't fall over :mj06:

It is traditional for civilian men to take off their hats during the playing of the national anthem. Women as well as children do not remove their hats on such occasions.
So service men don't have to?? I've never seen a Canadian Service Man 'cept at a fill'in station.:mj07:

all in good fun fellow humans

What sporting event are you referring too? Baseball is the only sport in town this week until the NBA Finals.:com:

Oh yeah, I forgot about hockey, I would rather watch the WNBGAY than watch the most boring sport on the planet, ugh...

When is football season? Damn, I can't wait it is boring right now.

imho, hockey is a fantastic sport to watch live and mediocre at best on tv.

Senor Capper, I know your post was meant in jest, but a police officer or serviceman is not to remove his hat for the National Anthem IF he is armed. If he is not armed, he is to remove it.

the whole theme of the flag and the national athem is what is going on this country at the moment...soldiers fighting the terrorist fight and losing lives....people are proud!

ignorance by some comments from some...and the facts leading to the battles ...is wrong

canada supplies approx 85% communication relays and satellite ops so that the usa troops can do their jobs and not get blown out of the water!

one of many in the last 2 years..fighting along with the usa

Well thanks a whole helluva lot to IE for screwing up the thread for me to be able to make fun of Canadians only haphazardly distastefully.

I was actually at Gagetown for a night back in my Marine Corps days. Nice digs. The girls were very interested in the dark green marine we had with us, so that was fun. Nice people. Hope this doesn't screw up the gene pool for them. Seriously, I love Canada and I hope they are all able to get through this. Is Alanis Morrissette Canadian? If so is there any way to keep her from coming back to the U.S. Inspirational anthem singing aside, if she is Canadian then cheers eh!...........she really had the crowd going eh?!
