Here's the scenario.....

Samantha is flying up to Canada for a friend's wedding. Plane ticket ran about $700. That is the sole purpose she's going. She wouldnt be going if the wedding wasn't happening. This is one of her good friends from back home who she was pretty tight with before she moved down here. She asked me the other day if she needed to give a gift too (aka cash). She said, I am already dropping 7 hundy on a plane ticket. I told her I'd ask the group and see what shakes out. What do you guys think?

I think most of you know that it wasnt that long ago that she didn't have a job so we are still feeling the effects of that. $700 isn't small potatoes. We just wanna make sure we do the right thing here. Are there arguments for both sides or is the only right thing to do is to pony up an envelope with cash?

Bart--I think she should send a gift whether or not she attends her friend's wedding. :0008

She should bring a gift. A funny idea would be to give a gift certificate to a restaurant in your area. That way they can buy a few airline tickets to have dinner with you! I bet the food would be better too.

hang on....let my clarify......she's already spent the $700 on the plane ticket. She flies out this weekend.

Well, she should have thought about this to begin with. She should have stayed home and sent a gift. Times are tough now. 700 dollar flight is steep. Classy thing to do is give a gift. I wouldn't spend 700 to see anyone get married. Well maybe if it was Kickserv and Nick Diaz i would think about it.

her friend has probably registered with a department or specialty store for gifts, i would find out who and make a donation what she can afford. A gift should come from the heart and money should not be an issue. Don't feel obligated to spend more than you can afford or feel is right.

also does Sam have updated passport for crossing the border?

bart(now this is just me)....i think sam might be obligated to get up off another benjamin with a nice card....

you should also do something....maybe send the bride some nice, sexy honeymoon pink panties with a self addressed stamped envelope to return the panties to you when she's done with them?......
