dawgball....I wasn't [really] knocking 'you'. I was being sarcastic.

There are actually some US citizens out there that aren't totally brain-washed by their media

That was actually meant as a compliment...as I find most people on this board very reasonable and well informed.

One thing tho, it DID amuse me that when I was in the US that the nightly 'world news', contained no news from anywhere other than the US! :D

Kick it is really pretty simple, if you don't agree with Bush you will be portrayed as no good or worse by the Bush, er I mean Murdoch based media. No big deal really as all thinking Americans know you guys are true friends.

Hey, at least we took there hockey team before they actually won anything.

I agree that Canada is an ally and although I have never been there ... a decent country with decent people.

France on the other hand and many other countries around the world can suck my balls. And I also do not like our leadership in the US and politics in general. We do not even have a true democracy ... we get basically 2 candidates who basically represent the power players in business and politics in our country and are forced to choose between 2 evils. I would like to see a regular, yet intelligent person with morals, values and common sense to run out country if I had a real choice. Not a puppet for the rich and powerful.

Will be hosting some Canadian friends this very week. All I know personally are class acts, and they are one of our best allies for sure.

Agree with a lot of what dawgball said, heck, the originator of this thread has even called me a "Bible thumper" in the past ;)

RCMP officer denies charge of political pressure from PM

VANCOUVER (AP) ? The man dubbed "Sgt. Pepper" denied suggestions Friday that the RCMP was under political pressure to dampen a protest at the 1997 APEC summit because the force had slipped up twice earlier in incidents involving Prime Minister Jean Chretien.

Protesters? lawyer Cameron Ward reminded RCMP Staff Sgt. Hugh Stewart of two incidents prior to the APEC summit that compromised Chretien?s security.

The first was in November 1995 in which Chretien was confronted by a protester during a ceremony in Hull, Quebec The protester ended up being choked around the neck by Chretien.

The second involved a break-in in the middle of the night a few months later at the prime minister?s residence.

American Politics must be boring for our neighbors to the North...

even though mr christo is one of those that buys into all the anti-american rhetoric...the aussies as a whole are solid as a rock...there`s always gonna be a few bad apples in every barrel....

Either that, or I like to get a balanced view of things and make up my own mind, rather than simply asking 'how high?' when the US (or anyone else for that matter!) says 'JUMP!'

Hey, maybe I just don't buy into the US propaganda machine? ;)

"the bunker"
read my post

read my post

in slim`s "the current course will bring instability and danger" thread....

anti-americanism isn`t some new phenomenon....as a matter of fact it`s considered quite "chi-chi" in many left leaning american and european circles.....and obviously some aussie circles....although i believe you are in the minority...

it`s been this way for decades...

christo, you are a part of the in crowd...it`s fun and it`s easy...

but,as i said, that`s old news...and in spite of the good things america has done over the past 80 years, despite being proven right many more times than wrong, despite having to buck european apathy time and again....to pull european asses out of the fire time and again....the leader of the "FREE WORLD"will always be a target for the resentful and the envious....those with short memories...

and that`s o.k.....it goes with the territory...

am i saying the iraq war was one of the "good" decisions?....no...the jury`s still out....and will be for years....

but we were never a nation willing to sit on our hands while situations spiral out of our control...the type of thing that europe has become renowned for.....

g.l. to danny green...

garden, your posts lately have been very informative and well stated esp on the facts of the topics being discussed.

Good job on keeping your cool. Even though I don't agree with everything you say, it's very nice coming into a thread you have posted in and read your point of view as oppossed to some others in this forum, myself included, as I know I can get carried away sometimes, but when dealing with some of the pin heads around here it's hard not to.

Anyway, great posts and keep up the great work.:thumb:

cw....You clown!!

Fun and easy!! LMAO!!

I'm no more Anti-American than I am Anti-Brasilian, or Anti-New Zealand or Anti-anyone in Australia that I think is an idiot!

I sincerely appologise to you for having a mind of my own.

Always amuses me how the "Leader of the FREE world" is so keen to enforce it's will on others....How you can judge what is 'fair' and what isn't.

This was always going to be a dangerous thread...stirring up the ol' national pride and all....Just goes to show that (and, yes, I've done the same thing) it just isn't a good idea at all to generalise or go with stereo-types.

You think what you want to think, but DO NOT tell me I post (or think!) anything to be 'Chic' or 'IN'.

Either that, or I like to get a balanced view of things and make up my own mind, rather than simply asking 'how high?' when the US (or anyone else for that matter!) says 'JUMP!'
Resentful?? huh?? Envious?? Hardly. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

the monsters are targeting malls now
Need I even ask which 'group' you are refering to here?
I have a strong suspicion it isn't red-necks with shotguns

all due respect

all due respect

"Just goes to show that (and, yes, I've done the same thing) it just isn't a good idea at all to generalise or go with stereo-types." ....as stated by mr christo...

..and then in the same post the redneck comment?...lol.....no,the monsters i was referring to aren`t the "rednecks with shotguns"(nice slur,mr fair and balanced)...

i`m referring to the monsters that strap bombs to unsuspecting children and send them out to do their dirty work.....

the ones that hide in residences..behind the innocent.....in mosques and religious retreats.......

you know, the ones that chop civilian`s heads off ......

that bomb discotheques....

the ones that bombed the spanish commuters....

the ones that were just arrested for plotting an attack on a french subway....why the french?......i have no idea.....they really haven`t been a u.s. ally for years.......

the one`s that subjugate women....that will not permit religious freedom....or free elections....

by any civilized person`s defintion,i don`t think the term monsters is a stretch.....

keep your pants on down under.....they are proving that large bodies of water aren`t a deterrent...i hope you are never touched by their madness...

you are entitled to your opinion.... i respect that...although your resentment, imo,is misguided...

we can agree to disagree...

ok well good to see my original post got some answers that I liked. It is a pleasure to see that some Americans do feel that we are an ally :)

Why???.......BECAUSE WE ARE!!......bottom line is this....if anybody attacked Canada, the US would be there.........but just remember it's not like Canada hasn't been there for Americans before either...........just look at all the Americans that came up here during Vietnam..........kidding...just kidding :D

guess can some it up with this:

ask any US WWII vet if Canada is an ally....they'll tell ya straight up!
