Hmm, bnever heard of it? IS this available at Menards, Home Depot, Target, Walmart or online... Sounds like that would be great....

Trimec

Lawn Weed Killer Herbicide

http://www.pestproducts.com/trimec.htm

is a Pro use Hericide that I have never seen sold in any Homedepot...etc..

These Herbicdes and Pesticides are sold at Controlled purchase outlets such as Lesco and others..You may find it in some states where the control is not so severe..Liscensed tech's have a number issued to them for purchase and application..

I found a site on line that may allow you to purchase..try it out..

Trimec is a fav of the Pro's like pd1.

Ortho Weed B Gone is as close as you will get from any of the Lowes and the like that I know anything about..

It works..lotta times it takes repeated app's but it will kill Clover ,Dandy and likes..Something like 250 different weeds..

Everyone should be very carefully around water using anything that is total veg. kill.

again pd1 may be able to recomend a product that is run-off safe..

there is a reason the likes of Scotts and TruGreen can make a shit yard look like a beautiful lawn in a couple of years..They have the chemicals and ferts to make it happen..

If ya want to do it without the killers and growers.. pd1's advice is as good as it gets..We call it the Va.Tech growing guide around here..Tuff program to work in my area but works real well in climates were it isn't quite so hot for such as long period of time...

sharp blades..cut it high..water..water..water.

was reading abou the PGR, the cabin has a steep almost unmowable hill that we let grow, but to keep it trimmed we have to stand above, and basically one hand the mowever back and forth over the stepp grade, a little dangerous, or go from below and try to puch up and handle the mower. Would this PGR help in this matter, what about potential runof into lake as for as it's ecosystem is concerned?

dogface

Dog, I tried a product "Embark" once. The best I can remember is it was very expensive, and didn't work worth a chit. We had a creek that ran thru the golf course that had to be weed eatered every other week. It might have slowed some of the weeds down, but not enough of difference to help me.

Sorry I am not more help. You really don't have to worry about any environmental damage with anything you can buy off the shelf. The EPA has made sure of that.
Maybe 20 years ago there was a product called Triumph. It was only to be used to control white grubs. Very, Very effective. It was classified as a restricted use pesticide, meaning you had to have a license to buy it.. I tried it and it worked great, next year I went to buy it again and they said it was off the market and I asked why. They said a lawn company sprayed a subdivision with it. Well that night it rained 3 inches and a lot of it ran off into a big lake killing all the fish. It was just as effective killing fish as it was grubs.

Here in Missouri you can buy Tri Mec at all the hardware stores. If not Old School is right weed-be-gone is a good alternative. Price wise both are about the same. You might have to make a second app with the weed be gone.

I'll check back in tomorrow. Tired and half drunk and can't win at poker. See you all tomorrow.
