Can you hook me up with the place where you buy #1 Jimmies for $50/bushel? Feel free to get my e-mail from Jack if it wouldn't be appropriate to answer in the forum. Thanks!

Male hard crabs are usually called "Jimmies", mature female crabs are usually called "sooks". Jimmies are generally larger and more meaty, therefore more desirable for eating whole--steamed or boiled. Sooks are often sold to commercial processing plants to be picked and packaged as fresh or pasteurized meat. For crabfeasts or picnics, always ask for Jimmies.

I didn't know so I looked it up. Sounds tasty!

Plus, the jimmies don't have the nasty row (roe? - not sure the sp?) to eat.

this particular gathering a group of eight of us ate the entire bushel in two sessions that day..

We didn't even save 30 or 40 for crabcakes which we always do.

Some outlets will be as high as $150.00 a bushel by the last week of this month [June]

We hope our crabbing friend will be able to continue to hook us up directly from his boat..probable around $75.00 a bushel for full big Jimmies
