It would seem that when a guy is shooting people around you, you might have a reasonable assumption that "you're in a life threatening situation".

There is a bit of a "chicken or the egg" situation at play here. Were these guys attacking him because he was a threat (i'd say showing up with an AR-15 is a threat) or was this just an all out brawl where Kyle just happened to have the means to end the fight quickly?
