Just to clarify, when I said "good for Dan Gilbert" in my 1st post, I meant good for him for speaking his mind instead of doing the politically correct thing.

However, I think it is disingenuine ( sp?) for him to question James effort for the playoffs after James stated that he is playing for the Heat. If Gilbert sincerely thought that james didn't put forth his best effort for the playoffs, he should have said so right after the playoffs. Otherwise it sounds like "sour grapes".

Completely agree. We didn't hear Gilbert question James' effort when he was actually on the team, but as soon as he leaves he unleashes that tirade?

And even though I disagree with his stance, I agree with you that I like when people speak their minds and don't just say what they think people want to hear. Gilbert is going to be answering questions about his comments for quite a while, though. :142smilie

doesn't anyone understand this owner just lost millions upon millions of dollars? he couldn't give two shits about Lebron but what he does care about is the sudden drop in profits.

And? Every owner who loses a big-time athlete to FA goes through the same thing, but they don't typically feel the need to drag that players name through the dirt. People are just surprised by the lack of tact shown by Gilbert. Do you think if Lebron had reupped with the Cavs Gilbert would still say publicly that Lebron quit on his team in the playoffs?

Losing a free agent of this caliber is a little different. He is the face of the league.

I understand that he is an iconic figure, but that doesn't make it right for Gilbert to talk shit about the guy just because he left. If Lebron had stayed, he would be kissing his ass and talking about how he's the best player in the NBA, yadda, yadda, yadda. His comments just come off as being classless and a bit hypocritical, IMO.

Oh sure he would that is why im saying he is pissed off with all the money he has lost. That is why he is so mad. The guy just lost a fortune. Could u imagine what his franchise is worth today compared to yesterday? I bet it is a big hit.

When have I ever defended Dana White? Just because I watch MMA, or post in the MMA forum, doesn't mean I condone his actions when he acts like a douchebag. If people didn't watch sports because of idiot owners, nobody would watch sports.

not saying u are defended Dana. Just saying Gilbert is acting like Dana. Dana does this so much that when another guy does it, it doesn't surprise me. I guess Dana made me used to it.

I agree with you there. Gilbert's actions are very similar to how White often acts. As someone said earlier, Gilbert's comments are the equivalent of him stomping his feet, then taking his ball and going home.

It had nothing to do with taxes, weather or anything like that. If Bosh would have agreed to go to Cleveland under the sign and trade that was already worked out with Toronto, James would have stayed.

Bosh didn't want to live in Cleveland. Fine. It's kind of humorous watching the 'King' being led around by what the immortal Chris Bosh does. I hope the Chosen One enjoys going from owning his entire native state to being second fiddle on his own team. The Heat and the city of Miami will always belong to Wade.

Sadly for the Heat, the game is only played with one basketball and their two megastars play virtually the same exact style of game.

I wouldn't make plans for attending that championship parade down Biscayne Blvd just yet.

this fellow..this madjacks` icon.... also deserted his beloved cleveland for the beaches and babes(and big bucks) of florida...

we need a new word... ?brazen? doesn?t even begin to describe this level of sleazy hypocrisy......

Seriously Gilbert? Aren't you the one who just fired Mike Brown, the same Mike Brown who led this team I believe to the best record in the NBA last year, and overall number seed in the East. Whether any of us thought Mike Brown was the right fit or not, um, no loyalty there, but yet he plasters Lebron.

I lived in Cleveland through 97-99, and my company had 4 season tickets in club seats, and I couldn't get anyone to go, NOBODY. I went to the them all because I played 20 years of hoops and through college. My point, may not accurate, but I swear there was only about 5000 fans each game I went to, and half of them were donated seats to various different charity groups to get the concessions I assume and make it look fuller. My second point, this franchise is once again DEAD, and the value of this team will be cut probably by 2/3.

Lebron made this team a sellout for the last 7 years, and made them who they were and some serious $$ and value. Now they most likely will go back to winning 20-25 games, be awful. Who as a top FA will ever sign to go there? Gilbert just lost his ass. Sorry Gilbert it is what it is.

Mike Brown is smiling somewhere, and poor Byran Scott is crying. Izzo looks like the true genius here as he just added years to his life. Ouch, I can't even fathom to begin what economic windfall this is going to have for that city, restaurants and bars too.

Mike Brown wasn't a good coach. They won but does that mean he is a great coach? Heck nobody is even looking at him and his slow down offense. We have a guy coaching the Phillies who can't even tie his shoes yet we have been to back to back world series. You can tell if a guy can coach in the playoffs. How many times was this coach begged to run and yet he would just walk the ball up? He was almost as bad as the Atlanta coach. Now this coach was down right awful.
